WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO: EASILY THE WORST EVER?

Post by loaded_gloves »

Boring to watch? Tick.

Cheats to win? Tick.

Holds rather than punches? Tick.

Lacks fire? Tick.

Lacks stomach for war? Tick?

Cannot win a fair fight due to glass chin? Tick.

Often abetted by openly corrupt house referee? Tick.

I think Wladimir tops even Henry Akinwande and John Ruiz in terms of being the worst titlist ever because he has been allowed to offend both his opponents and the viewers sensibilities for such a long period of time, while fully supported by the referees and commentators' Ministry of Propaganda while interest in boxing rapidly dwindles.

Here is the question:

A totally fair fight. A proper boxing match. Punches given and taken. Hard ass old fashioned referee not on any payroll refuses to allow Wladimir to hold, spoil, buy time, hit and hold. He is forced to stand and fight, as he used to back in 03, 04.

How long does he last? You know, not wrestling and spoiling. That old fashioned thing we all once called Boxing.

And yet there are still people who think the guy's 'reign' means something and that he has 'skills'. Just look at that fantasy thread where people are actually saying that Wlad would beat some champions of old.

I did predict Wlad by decision in a lot of accumulators though so for once I am happy on a night Wlad's fighting :OhYes:

Disgraceful cheating. He should've been DQd. If he had proper refs he'd be KOd

Wlad has an 80.95% KO ratio. That's hardly indicative of a fighter without fire power.

He was also down three times against Sam Peter but got up and was able to win the fight. He has heart. It's dumb to go to war if you don't have to.

Wlad might not be entertaining (though I find his fights fascinating) but that doesn't mean he's bad.

I said fire, not fire power.

Fire is Joe Frazier. Bringing all hell, making the world watch.

Wladimir makes the world turn away and gag. I would be utterly ashamed if my friends knew I had spent my Saturday night watching that.

It's like One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest on here sometimes. What a ridiculous topic.

No, it's a valid discussion.

Ridicous is your ignorance to the boxing rule book. Ridiculous is your approval of 200+ holds in a fight.

Is wlad good or the competition that bad??

Vitali is past it now but was & remains the better brother.wlad has improved but did get exposed on a few occasions.

Hurlock, I agree that Vitali was better than Wlad and may still be.

Bigots tend to hate greats, Johnson, Wills, Holmes to name but three. Lennox, Ali and even Foreman had their detractors too. People just don't seem to like winners.

I don't approve of the holding and have to say that it is not panic or passive holding that Wlad does; he gets a boxer and forces them around/down and squeezes them; it sounds silly but his holding is an aggressive tactic, his sheer strength makes a terrible impression over the rounds. If Wlad is 18 stone or thereabouts I imagine he's as strong as a bull; Povetkin is no pushover and a tough, prepared man with credentials and dirty fight or no, he made no impression whatsoever.

Wlad might not be entertaining (though I find his fights fascinating) but that doesn't mean he's bad. It would be a grave mistake to do that.
I remember that fight. wlad was holding excessively then he was turning away. in Germany on shows he's promoting the referee intervenes. in America the other guy is given a shot to continue punching - i.e. it's not peter's problem, if wlad all but turns his back on the opponent. you can't hold and then when unable, just turn away; or hold and then push him over (as seen in several other fights). wlad has not been stopped from these excessive tactics, enough times.

i don't moan, I just don't watch him fight anymore. I stopped around the FIRST tony Thompson fight, when wlad pushed him over and fell on Thompson, injuring his knee. that was a good 'un; or at least a good example of how he can "hold on" to victory.

Holding is holding.

Boxing is boxing.

Wladimir has mastered one but not the other.

He also needs house referees to allow him to hold and hide his glass chin.

Wlad is a fine specimen he's big & remains athletic rather then ungainly, clumbersome like most giants. Freak really.
He obviously hits hard because fighters don't jab or really attack him generously. I think the yanks ate to blame all there athletes want to be ballers & who can blame them! Good living.

All the talk of great white hope of heavyweight champion & now you get plenty of them & heavyweight boxing is dead!! & it is!
I long for a great black American to rescue it

Wlad is good & effective & ok he holds diffuse opponents do why don't they throw him about ruff him up. It's because they can't they ain't good enough it aint his fault.
Blame the opponent I say povetkin you bum ed

He would certainly have beaten Rocky Marciano. I have no doubt about that.

Any of the top 10 contenders from the 70's could have beaten the Wlad of last night though. He's on borrowed time now but the contenders are so bad that he's stayed champion longer than he should have.

Tyson Fury?

I think that Wach fight showed that if there were more guys closer to Wlad's size, or bigger, he'd probably have more exciting fights (same goes for Vitali as the Lennox fight showed IMO).

As it is guys like Mormeck, Haye, and even Povetkin and Chaguev just get physically dominated.

Fury wouldn't go 4 with Wlad; he hits far too hard and is far too strong, Wlad isn't shy of taking a punch and Fury isn't a chin wrecker.

It would be exciting however long it lasted. Hopefully young Tyson will get his chance.

I really like fury & love his drive & will to win many felt he had the qualities to defeat haye & he has but he can't!
When haye has the power to ko the likes of chisora a big tough lad I can't see fury standing up to haye let alone wlad

I think Haye will probably beat Fury but, as the cliche goes, styles make fight and Fury has the style to make a fight with Wlad compelling for as long as it lasted.

And if it does I'll put enough on Wlad to get back the tenner I lost on Povetkin tonight.
