Somehow its become a golden agre…or at least a silver one…

David Bey would go through both Klitschkos on the same night and eat KFC out of the bucket in between rounds.

I’m off to watch the holy trinity… Page-Tubbs, Spoon-Tubbs and Tyson-Bonecrusher…
Tubbs, the "boxer-thinker" and "eater-drinker". They were boring fights, although there was the tantalising possibility that one of them would wake up and take charge.

Although I do have a soft spot for Page-Tubbs.
Tubbs and Page had a loft of soft spots.

Like any era there were good fights and bad ones…

But those fat blokes made a mockery of the sport. All the writers of the time consistently slammed the heavyweights for being a disgrace.

Tubbs had that skinny arms and legs thing going on that actually made him look like Humpty Dumpty.

They were the best of times.
this is nothing but blatant apologism for the Klits, which is roughly on a par with the Daily Mail's support for fascism in the 30s, basically ten thousand refugee children just died as a result of your post.

Thanks Counter-Puncher…appreciate the kind words.

Loaded is probably a good bloke, who we’d all get on with if we met.

His location is “my own private hell” …which means he’s got Klitschko stuck on repeat and he can’t find the remote…he dreams of a better place…where Holmes and Tex Cobb is shown “as live” on an eternal loop on every screen on the planet.

Again I ask, list me the action heavyweight title fights of this decade. I listed action fights from the 80s, you skirted them and brought up Page/Tubbs. Or a 4 minute round that was the fault of timekepper Lacky Schwartz nothing at all to do to with the two fighters tactics or the referee.
You want the dominant fighter of the era to voluntarily give up his advantages to increase action. I find that illogical. It's like asking Usain Bolt to hop. If you don't like the way things are, turn your attention to Wlad's opponents and their 'strategists' and maybe send them some ideas - although I haven't seen you produce any ideas yet. How would you go about defeating Wlad's style?

I remember being round a mate's house (my mum didn't see the point in VCRs) and finding a betamax tape of Hagler/Duran tucked in amongst a decent wedge of other fights his dad had taped. Now I had seen Hearns/Duran and Hagler/Duran and these being pre-internet/boxrec/let me Google on my smartphone and pretend I knew the answer days, I had no idea they had fought until then. My tiny early teenage mind was blown, more so than watching Enter the Dragon or Apocalypse Now in the [very] early 80s.

Again I think you miss the point. Nobody is asking him to give up his advantages. What he is doing is cheating. Asking Bolt to hop is like asking him to ruin his chances by changing his amazing skill set. All we are doing is pointing out that Klitschko regularly employs not just a holding technique but a fully illegal manouvre of pulling his opponent in and down towards the canvas to negate any shots, rather than legally blocking, slipping, parrying, countering or..God forbid..using lateral movement to evade.
The only point I can agree with you on is that this is not soley Klitschko's fault. He will use this illegal scam so long as the officials allow it and he keeps winning. The Ref MUST be held accountable for allowing such a blatantly illegal move done with such regularity and without any shame. I still can't believe Povetkin's corner weren't screaming holy hell at the ref. I know we were while watching it. And officials of the governing body should highlight such a blatant illegal breach of the rules it in order to save the reputation of the HW world title as an event worth watching.

I listed the action fights of the 80s and very simply challenged any Klitist to list the action fights of the last decade.

Instead of doing that the question was skirted, a mocking story of me threatening to leave the forum was invented, I was mockingly accused of being a poster using multiple accounts, jokes were made about Tony Tubbs physique, and a four minute round was cited, all of this rather than directly responding to the question in a total avoidance of reason and a quite juvenile playing to the gawping crowd.

That's ad hominem in anyone's language. Improve your counter punching, Counter-Puncher!

The heavyweight scene is bigger in Europe than at any point in history. Tickets were changing hands for astronomical prices in the run up to Saturday. It was a capacity crowd. The purse bid was in excess of 20 million dollars and didn't require PPV. Over 100 million watched the fight across Europe on free to air TV.

As I keep saying, people in the West (and by West I mean the UK and North America) should stop decrying the globally extremely popular Klitschkos and concentrate on producing guys who can put up a decent challenge to their supremacy.

My first fight was chiselled on a stone tablet. Good Vs Evil. Evil won by a close but clear margin. Sorry, a "robbery". It was 50-50 until Good realised he had no objective reality and crumbled along the ropes, which were actually made out of stone as well..
Think you'll find Betamax pre-dated stone tablets...

As long as we didn't talk about boxing. All we'll hear it the usual: "When I were't'a lad watching VHS tapes in the 1990s..."
On my old Betamax copy of the highlights of Lonnie Smith v Billy Costello...30 seconds of the video “Hey You The Rock Steady Crew” would come on…my younger brother accidentally recorded it…luckily he aborted the operation before too much damage could be done.

So long as you don't have any histrionics or temper tantrums, you're welcome.

You were very theatrical after Terry O'Connor's last performance, I thought you were going to do something silly.

I'm very calm and placid in real life, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T MENTION TERRY O'CONNOR.

I honestly think I'm probably the kindest and most nicest person on the forum.

so because of their popularity, nobody should complain that Wlad consistently cheated and was allowed to get away with it. I would do the same if any fighter flagrantly cheats and gets away with it, I don't give a toss how successful, how popular, or where they are based, there are rules, and unless the referee applies them correctly and consistently, then it makes a mockery of the sport.
