Luton amateur show 1987.

Post by dalcumly »

I've posted this on the amateur section as well. There was a show in Luton around August/September 1987 watched by the England selectors and Henry Wharton stopped a chap in the 3rd round. Wharton was chosen to fight against Poland soon after. Henry thought the guy's name was Keith Wallace but of course Keith Wallace was a flyweight from Liverpool. He's convinced his surname was Wallace. Can anybody clear the matter up for me??

I got information from the amateur section which tells me that a KEITH WALL fought for England at 67 kgs around 1986. Does anyone know of Keith Wall, I wonder of he could possibly have moved up to middleweight by 1987??

On a club show they could have made the bout somewhere in between. Henry will have only been 18 at the time so was probably around 11st ish... That's more than likely your man. Guys at that standard are very difficult to match on a club show, hence the long journey for a bout.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I will probably get the details of this opponent in the future maybe when I meet Terry O'Neill or Gary Atkin and I'll try to confirm 'Keith Wall ' with Henry this morning. It does sound like the right person doesn't it.
