BBBofC order Chisora v Price

Post by Finn »

B0nation have announced, apparently a triple title fight.

Im completely baffled how can the BBBofC order this fight they cant order a mandatory for the EBU title and chisora is above the British title level.

Incidentally this was i fight i wanted to see anyway but lets face it chisora is highly likely to win.

hopefully they are not taking that fight. another KO could end his career.

I think that price is more talented than chisora but at this moment this fight is all wrong for him. he could theoretically KO chisora (hard punching but inaccurate gerber hurt him too but failed to capitalize and price is more accurate and sharp) but it would be more likely that price fails to KO him (maybe even after knocking him down) and then gets slowly walked down by chisora who is not super skilled but can go a high pace and get on the inside (where price likes to trade too which is bad against an inside fighter like chisora).

price should take a couple of tune ups and rework his gameplan in the ring.

Could actually be a good fight.

Price really needs to sort his stamina out though.

He's lucky that Chisora is not a puncher, although that's not to say that Dereck can't stop him.

Ordinarily, I'd say that Price needs to take a tune-up & prove himself, but Chisora needs to as well, so fighting each other will prove to each of them where they stand in the HW mix.

Ordinarily i would always go for Price in this one but right now, nah,Chisora is tailor made to get into Davids mind at this moment in time and could overwhelm him earlyish

Chisora is no banger and Price needs rounds. If Price can't stay stood up against Delboy for 12 he won't stand up against any decent heavy for 12. Win, lose, or draw, providing he doesn't get stopped or gapped huge on the cards, he's made progress.

I really did like Price, but unfortunately I think this is spot on. I think Price's confidence is gone.

Chisora has already proven himself to be a world level contender, he doesn't need to prove himself.

Price should not take this fight as he would be very likely to lose.

Great fight! All this talk about guys not taking it on, protecting themselves, rebuilding..... it's nonsense! I want to see the best fight the best. It's a sport, there have to be winners and losers. Chisora-Price would be fantastic and well done the BBBofC for mandating it.

I'm backing FW to make it happen.

Price has already lost twice this year. He's done his fair share of losing for a while and now he needs to get his career back on track, not take another beating.

why? nothing wrong with lots of loses on your record if it gets you the experience to win a world title. It worked for johnny nelson.

i actually named this as one of my top picks in the "Wish List - Top 3 Domestic Dust Ups" thread.

However can someone still try and explain the BBBofC being able to order the fight?

the general sentiment seems to be for this fight and i'm inclined to agree,

chisora has a good case for saying he is above british level. but prioce is a big enough scalp to justify taking this fight

if he weighs it up on a risk vs reward basis, it's risky. fighting at domestic level against a guy that hits as hard as price.

but i don't think derek thinks that way, he'll just see a talented guy, who was rated very highly and a good test for himself and a very winnable fight.

and hopefully his promoter/manager will look at it and think this sells well for a domestic level fight so lets get it on.

I honestly think it could go either way

He wasn't getting knocked out (apart from Haye) and looking like garbage though.

Price seems to be mentally weak and Chisora smashing his head in won't do anything to help that.

Chisora has the European belt and thus can turn this down. Don't be so sure it is going to be made anytime soon. Clearly it is going to happen at some point down the line tho.

Weak people dont make it to the top in this game so its sink or swim for Price imo, i like the guy and i hoped he would do well but lets face it most of us saw the writing on the wall and knew he didnt have a chin, and unfortunately he doesnt have the stamina of say wlad to use the ultra defensive style of fighting and plug it out over 12 rounds. He needs to have developed some type of ultra offensive style instead because he has the punch power to put anyone away.

Fascinating fight but surely a bad one to take for Price right now. Any decent manager will tell him to have a couple of warm up confidence boosters first.
His confidence is shot right now, and Del boy will probably pulverise him. Leaving his career over before it even got started.

He can rebuild and improve.

Fighting Chisora now would be likely to be ruinous.

Who would you match Price with Horse? I think David's number one problem is his nerves and seeming inability to relax in his fights - this was almost certainly his downfall last time out, he wasn't beaten up per se. That he has barely done any rounds hasn't helped. I think he needs to go into a few fights expecting/wanting to do rounds and learning to pace his way through twelve. Going in and knocking over a few stiffs won't help his confidence because it's not tackling the problem.

I'd argue that even if he lost a close decision on points against a decent operator like Chisora he'd feel a lot better about his prospects going forward than if he sparked a couple of no-names from Timbuktu.

If you can name me a guy who'd likely take him 12 and is less risky that Chisora, and it's easy to make, I'll put your proposal under active consideration.

Who else is there thats worth him fighting? I dont agree with fighters fighting bums it has to be a valid test even if just on paper.

Chisora's chin isn't McCall like. Helenius and Vitali were rumoured to have injuries preventing them from throwing their hardest shots against him. Haye is the only other fighter he has faced who carries serious power and look what happened there.

Assuming Price's power carries up a level, which showed a little in the Thompson fit with the heavy knockdown of the tiger, then he can stop Chisora.

Good fight. I would like to see it made.
