Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Price would win this one in 4 rounds
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
This is bad for Price he surely has to vacate as FW will be behind Chisora and win purse bids.
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Good fight at a bad time.... Price just needs to get back to winning ways against some less dangerous opposition. I think its a fun fight somewhere down the line and a genuine 50/50, but right now its hard to imagine anything but Price folding as soon as Chisora backs him up, which he is almost certain to do.
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Surely Chisora will fancy this aswell so unless Price vacates it is on.

how can he be the mandatory for the british title if he is the European champion?expe wrote:Price is the British champion and Chisora has been named as his mandatory.Finn wrote:i actually named this as one of my top picks in the "Wish List - Top 3 Domestic Dust Ups" thread.

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
he hasnt fought a british opponent since haye who he lost to and his last british opponent before that was fury who he lost to. This new position is obviously a set up. How has he gained a british title mandatory ranking? Also since when do people get ordered to fight for a national title when they have a genuine continental title?Horse wrote:Because he is.Finn wrote:how can he be the mandatory for the british title if he is the European champion?
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Fury and Haye won't be interested in fighting for the British title and Chisora is the clear next best British contender.Finn wrote:he hasnt fought a british opponent since haye who he lost to and his last british opponent before that was fury who he lost to.
Who should be the mandatory challenger? McDermott?

It's happened many times before. I think Frampton was Quigg's British mandatory when he was the European champion.Finn wrote:Also since when do people get ordered to fight for a national title when they have a genuine continental title?

It's an exciting fight but I agree with the Price protectors on this one. Chisora would maraud in there and have a field day.
I'd like to see David have a confidence booster and I hope to god his team are working on his stamina and pacing out the rounds.

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
he is not a puncher but he does punch hard enough to stop a tired fighter. when price runs out of steam chisora will pound him into submission at the ropes like he did with scott.Syntax Error wrote:Could actually be a good fight.
Price really needs to sort his stamina out though.
He's lucky that Chisora is not a puncher, although that's not to say that Dereck can't stop him.
Ordinarily, I'd say that Price needs to take a tune-up & prove himself, but Chisora needs to as well, so fighting each other will prove to each of them where they stand in the HW mix.
I'm a price fan but he needs to build up confindence and his style with easier opponents. chisora is not a world beater but at this moment his style is all wrong for a tall boxer with stamina issues.

I think that price is more talented than chisora but at this moment this fight is all wrong for him. he could theoretically KO chisora (hard punching but inaccurate gerber hurt him too but failed to capitalize and price is more accurate and sharp) but it would be more likely that price fails to KO him (maybe even after knocking him down) and then gets slowly walked down by chisora who is not super skilled but can go a high pace and get on the inside (where price likes to trade too which is bad against an inside fighter like chisora).
price should take a couple of tune ups and rework his gameplan in the ring.
I understand the idea of a confidence booster but at the same time I think, you chose boxing, get on with it. Or should he be allowed a free pass to a title shot fighting people who can't hit him back?
Price Chisora is a good, British, decently matched fight.
wladimir fought moli and williamson after his defeats
lennox fought lionel butler after his first defeat
they both went on to become hall of famers (lewis even a top5 ever guy). should their promotors matched them harder?
I already said that in the joshua thread when fans critizised him for fighting a bum first. legends like tyson, ali, lewis or wladimir did fight bums too.
so why do you have higher standards for price and joshua than you have for HOF fighters.
my issue with that fight is not so much getting chinned but getting out hustled. price not only has chin issues but probably more importantly stamina issues. chisora is not a banger and I actually believe price could stop him with his enormous power but if he fails to do it within the first 4 or so he is in trouble.
chisora is not a banger but he runs head down into people and then brawls on the inside. he also has some bob and weave skills to make fighters miss making the opponent even more tired.
price is a better boxer than chisora but I cannot see him beating chisora over 12 right now. stamina is a big issue against a crounching brawler like chisora.
he needs a fighter that is a solid boxer but can be boxed at a measured pace?

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
How many fights would you want Price to have before getting in ith Del Boy then?
What kind of a lead up would you recommend?
I don't think Price would beat him over 12, but I don't think it would go 12. Price could potentially stop him in one round.

Simple.
You people have no compassion. Price's career would be left in tatters, but as long as you're entertained then screw him.
but in reality, if his career ends in tatters it's down to one thing, he's not good enough.
i'd love it if he was fitter, had a better chin and reached world level. but if he's not good enough, he's not good enough. end of!
Feeding him bums is not only cheating the fans, it's price lying to himself and his management protecting a guy who isn't good enough. chisora isn't elite level, he's not a massive puncher and not a destructive force. he's good, hard working and tough. If price can't beat him now or in 12-24 months, he's not good enough to reach the level he thought he could.
The sooner he finds that out the better
as tyson fury said, better he gets spanked by haye and finds out he's not good enough now!
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
so why did wladimir and lennox fought bums after their first defeats? why do you want to reinvent the handling of boxers (both joshua and price)? it is a normal practice that you fight bums in the beginning or after a defeat.davie wrote:I like price, I get what your saying and from a fighters management point of view, you're right and thats the way he'll goHorse wrote:It's not simple, it's foolish.Jack B wrote:I'm a fight fan. So when will Price have the stamina to fight 12 rounds against someone decent like Chsiora? How would putting him in with a few fellas who are a much lower level than him, do anything for his stamina, or help him at all in fighting Chisora?dominik wrote:the guys who say "sink or swim":NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:if Price could get chinned by Derek, taking it now or in a year's time isn't going to make any difference. Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Lennox fought Butler, who was on a 17 fight winning streak in a WBC eliminator after he lost to McCall.
Wlad fought Williamson and Moli after the Sanders and Brewster defeats.
Al three of these opponents had records comparable to Del Boy's now.
Its not as if Wlad and Lennox fought complete no hopers after their defeats. Chisora isn't some elite level beast. Future gate keeper in my opinion.

First, just to clarify, I don't think David should fight Chisora in his next fight, I think he should fight him in his next but one fight. So perhaps one fight against a Moli/Butler equivalent in December and then a fight with Chisora towards the end of February next year.
The difference between Price and Joshua is that Price is already the British & Commonwealth champion and he has been a professional for over four years. He's already reached a decent level in the sport far and away more than the overwhelming majority of pros ever come close to achieving.
I still think David's stamina problems stem in no small part from him being a tense fighter who boxes on adrenalin. Knocking over guys in a round or two won't solve that problem. If he can't learn to relax, he's found his level.
Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
I agree with you. I saw Price box 3 years ago up in Sunderland, he didn't particularly look tense but as you say, adrenaline will tire you. In this case he needs to work on the mental side.Aden wrote:Hi, I said 'sink or swim'. It was a flippant remark.dominik wrote:the guys who say "sink or swim":NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:

Also a few six-mile runs with a small weight in each hand, followed by a few sprints - isn't this what boxers do anyway?

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
It's worth Price taking a risk in my opinion. If he wins he becomes European champion, his confidence rockets, and he puts himself in-line for big paydays. If he loses he is not much worse off than he is now. If he turns the fight down he presumably forfeits his titles, misses out on a big payday, and pretty much has to start again from scratch.

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
Very risky fight, Durable fighter with good workrate when in shape - sounds rather like Thompson - and younger too, coming off a good win, and also defending European champ, with aspirations of another crack at world title - sounds a massive risk to me. Price badly needs a confidence booster - I think he will probably end up with another loss if he fights Chisora, unless he stops Del boy early, he'll get steamrollered at some point.
If I was his management, I'd avoid this like the plague.
Shit or bust.

Re: BBBofC order Chisora v Price
get him in with chisora. if he's not good enough now , he never will be. he has the power to trouble anyone and chisora can be ko'd. all this confidence building shit is just about maximising earnings. same with khan when he got found out....they gave us all the same bullshit and had him fighting poor competition to massage his statistics, but in the end after all the diff trainers, weights, training methods and locations , khan is still the exact same fighter. he will beat slow guys and he will beat non punchers, but put him in with top class and his lack of brains will see him exposed, put him in with ko power and he will be ko'd.
price can punch. the heavyweight division is not loaded with talent.keep him away from clever devensive types and get him in with guys that he can ko before they ko him. he can still make money , and he can still ko a lot of fighters.....just dont expect him to be the next lennox lewis.
