big arena shows or small hall shows what do you prefer

i've been to shows with 100 people watching and shows with 50,000 and obviously you get the bigger fight on big shows but unless you're ringside it's hard to see the action compared to say the york hall , all the great fights i've seen live have been at small halls or at the albert hall where you can still see the action and it has great accoustics .

so what do you like

I'm more of a televisual watcher of boxing, so I base my opinion more on the quality of the fight rather than the size of the arena.

Though, I must say, I don't understand how people can slate small hall shows as being rubbish. Just because a fight is happening at a massive arena, doesn't necessarily make it a good fight. It just means a bigger name is involved, or that they've somehow managed to sell it as a big fight. For example, David Haye vs Audley Harrison was such a gross mismatch, it was never going to be anything other than a crap fight. But, for some reason people believed the hype, it got on pay-per-view and sold out one of the countries big arenas.

I'd much rather watch two domestic level fighters going all out for a British title in a small hall, then I would watch a famous name lay the smack down on some nobody that they've managed to con enough people into watching.

Obviously, with fights like Froch vs Kessler that are genuine big fights, then those nights are special. And you look forward to them. But I'd enjoy that wherever it was held.

Though, like I say. I watch most of them on TV. I'm sure it's different watching it live, as you're more likely to have favourite venues.

I'm 100% with the original poster on this one. The best fights may be on at the big arenas but you are too far away for an accurate view. My favourite view is square on to the ring in the balcony at York Hall. The Royal Albert Hall used to provide a decent view from most of the arena and I'm planning to give the Copper Box a try soon, but generally the larger arenas provide a decent atmosphere but not a decent view. I've never understood some people's obsession with stadium shows - can't see a thing unless you're looking at a screen; might as well watch it on TV.
