That's just plain ridiculous and a massive generalisation.
Rumpole who posts on here has delivered many a wise word in recent months to fighters.
I've gone through the mill myself on occasions.
I find it insulting to suggest that any advice would be prioritised as 1/ what's in it for me 2/ what can be done for the fighter or promotor.
Each case is unique.
No point in speculating about what's right and what's wrong. Only the two parties know the content of the contract, and the expiry date.
I hate those bloody words tortuous intervention !
I've found in the past that these 'problems' are rationalised away thus; what is good for me is good for my practice and what is good for practice is good for my (future) clients; there's no one in the world who sticks their hands up and admits to greed and there are some who fleece people and charge far beyond any semblance of reason for an hourly rate and for sending out a letter - though I point no fingers.
What you charge your clients is your business, palooka; and if they're willing to pay what you ask , who am I to say you're an unreasonable, money-obsessed, pubic hair-eating plutocrat.
The day I can charge a customer £50 for a letter and stretch a job on for a further 12 months (the wheels of justice move slow) is the day I eat my pubic hair and grin while I do it.

On Twitter, Radio Sheffield's Andy Giddings reporting that IBF have stripped him for failing to meet their deadline for scheduling a mandatory defence. Disaster if true.

Whoever has been whispering in McDonnell's ear has a lot to answer for.

Brings back memories of Paul "Silky" Jones - won the WBO title, got in a legal dispute with a certain promoter, didn't defend it and then got knocked out by Ryan Rhodes in his comeback.

"‘...The financial terms have already been agreed and Malinga’s clash against the Briton (McDonnell) will take place in the UK. We will confirm the date later in the week..."

Very good. Who has agreed the financial terms with the South African's people?

Well let's just hope it comes off for the lad and he gets a chance to defend his belt in the ring, because if he is stripped he might never get another chance.

The IBF have stripped him. Official. Eddie Hearn plans to appeal the ruling.

However this ends up being resolved, as of this moment, it's a gang-fornicate.

I know i am very naive about these things, but how does that get missed?

Surely if there is a time scale involved someone in the camp would know about it?

And SURELY there is a reminder type conversation? you know,'Hey Jamies people, you do know that you have to make a defence within this timescale right?'

i find it incredible things like this get missed or not sorted out?

Just been catching up with this. What a horrible mess.

All that glitters is not Gold Eddie. Hope they can get him back in the frame quickly.

I'm sure it's more of a case of who they haven't been talking to. Summat like this....

IBF- Hello it's the IBF. Make a Voluntary for Jamie before November.

Hobson- Oh yes, certainly, no problem at all, ill get right on it (puts phone down) Mwah Mwah Mwah. I'll show u (makes sure phone is definitely down).

I'm sure I can remember reading that when the title was won is was understood there was a mandatory defense due in November - that is why it seemed disingenous when McDonnell claimed that he didn't have a bout lined up - he had to make a defense; with all the palaver and ducking and diving who could blame Dennis Hobson if he's just watched it all unfold. The BBBoC has said that the contract between Hobson and McDonnell is sound - if he were so minded Hobson could really play hardball in the courts (the wheels of justice turn slowly) and bollocks up Jamies career and no matter how fantastic Eddie is it won't impress a High Court Judge.

Has McDonnell officially signed with Hearn? I don't remember an announcement, it seems that fighters are being tapped up and I'm sure the board have rules against that.
