film of Liston-Folley fight?
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
I liked that article thanks for providing the hyper link.
Arthur Mercante, the referee, says, "Aggression is one thing, but effective aggression is another. A lot of the time Norton was not effective."
This is a quote from the referee in the last Norton fight that most of us think Ali lost. Mercante was a very good and fair referee. And he was pretty close to the action.
It probably should not be completely ignored.

Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
Ali knows he lost the third Norton fight.
Didn't he acknowledge it in the dressing room right after the fight, before the spinmeisters had their influence on him?

Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
Yeah right. Ali wouldnt even admit he lost the FOC and that was far more conclusive.

Il Dunce, do they still have that event?Il Duce wrote:1976 'Miss Black America' Twanna Kilgore
I know most people would find it offensive now on so many levels, but I bet a good old cracker like yourself can put a positive spin on it...
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
So, as we see, some will completely ignore it, but the referee's statement stands as a genuine quote.
Genuine quotes....have value if for nothing other than an example of an action that actually transpired.
Another little something that actually transpired is the strange case of Joe Frazier calling it for Ken Norton....by only one round. He was one of the CBS judges on the "re-judging" of the fight a week or two later which came up with a draw in their estimation.
I guess Joe saw it as close somehow.
Anyway the issue is veracity of journalistic reporting going on here....not the subjective nature of the call of refs and judges.

That's might a mighty small window you are giving them; the walk from the ring back to the dressing room,ergo:
"How much longer can you fight with your mouth?" a huge black reporter asked.
"You're an Uncle Tom person to ask something like that," Ali snapped.
"I'm askin' you how long you can fight with your mouth," the guy pressed.
"Long enough to whup your black ass," Ali shot back.

Is that a southern colloquialism or an illiterate Caucasian's idea of Ebonics? (lol@me)Il Duce wrote:1976 Miss Black America
Twanna Kilgore, a beautiful young woman, who was so articulate in her view of the Bout at Ringside.
"Kenny is winning this fight. In my eye's Muhammad is posing and not doing much."
She called it for Kenny by '3-Points', and was later ridiculed for making her 'own call'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Asked after Round 10 at Ringside,
"Twanna, how do you see it.'
"Frank, It's hard to say. I'd swear, Ken Norton looks some kind of good. I saw the first two fights, and
Kenny is the only man that Ali hasn't beaten, and hasn't proved that he could be beat,"
Twanna Kilgore, A Great American............![]()
And if Miss America or Miss Black America Says Ken Norton won the fight then Ken Norton must have won the fight. (lol@me 2)
I'm curious. I know she did commentary on the fight. Could you please provide me with a citation for the quote you attributed to her? I read her interviews and she speaks in proper English, sans southern colloquialism or Ebonics. It's alternately sad and telling you think all black people speak like that.
BTW, my neighbor swears Bryan Vera beat Julio Cesar Chavez the other night. (lol@me3)

You couldn't find three bigger Ali haters at Stormfront. Oh, Larry Holmes had to kick Dick Young out of his training camp for being a racist prick.Il Duce wrote:The '3' Ringside Announcers all had it for Kenny Norton, and all felt Muhammad Ali did
little work at all in the Ring thru the first 10-Rounds.
I think there was even a reference to Muhammad Ali 'Being Lazy'.
After Round 15, Dick Young asked everyone for their Scores.
Red Smith.............10-5-0 {Kenny Norton}
Dick Young.............9-6-0 {Kenny Norton}
Stan Hochman........8-6-1 {Kenny Norton}
Twanna Kilgore.......8-5-2 {Kenny Norton}
Frank McGhee.........6-5-4 {Kenny Norton}
Dick Young, "Kenny Norton won this fight. Kenny won it. That's it, everybody
has Norton."
Here's the UPI and AP scorecards:
Unofficial AP scorecard: 9-6 Ali
Unofficial UPI scorecard: 8-7 Norton
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
I "love" how Il Manichino has his black subject go from Ebonics or southern colloquialisms to standard conversational English in the same paragraph as if he couldn't stay on script, ergo
The only thing you didn't do is put the poor woman in a apron and a hair net.""Frank, It's hard to say. I'd swear, Ken Norton looks some kind of good. I saw the first two fights, and
Kenny is the only man that Ali hasn't beaten, and hasn't proved that he could be beat,"
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
And even Dick Young who Il Manichino quotes so , errrr, loosely said the decision was justified,ergo:
A hotly contested decision. It wasn't the first nor the last.
What are we left with at the end of the day?"Those that argue Ken Norton won the fight and should be the new heavyweight champion are missing one very important rule: You can't dethrone a heavyweight champion unless you beat him badly. Clearly, Ken Norton did not beat him badly."

You can hear Miss Twanna Kilgore say it herself.
Muhammad Ali vs. Ken Norton III {You Tube}................After Round 10........
I don't understand your statement, that she speaks 'proper English'......... :??
She was from Memphis, Tennessee..........Everybody uses that phrase.......White, Black, Brown, and Other.
Where? I have realplayer and windowsmedia so I can listen to it.
And as I said my neighbor thinks Bryan Vera beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Should the boxing authorities reverse the decision?

What a 'racist' and 'bigoted' remark.......
You should re-think that statement, and re-phrase it.
You are allowed a few 'Boners' on this thread...........
You are the one who used Ebonics and southern colloquialisms when misquoting her or falsely attributing quotes to her.
We are all waiting for you citation, whether it be to a tape or an interview.
Here's a citation and she doesn't speak in the manner you fallaciously attributed to her:

Why should I cite my sources?
To show your readers that you have done your research.
To give credit to others for work they have done.
To point your readers to sources that may be useful to them.
To allow your readers to check your sources, if there are questions.
Citing sources points the way for other scholars. Future generations of engineers, scientists and leaders will look to work done at MIT to solve some of the world’s greatest problems. Citation helps that process continue.

Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
This isn't rocket science and even a cipher like you can figure it out. There is a difference between a fact and an opinion. The former requires documentation that can be independently verified while the latter doesn't.Il Duce wrote:"I'd swear, Ken Norton looks some kind of good"
Brilliantly phrased.
What part of that don't you understand?
Come back to me in a hour as that is approximately the amount of time it will take to wrap your little mind around that concept.
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
I will be more than happy to give a former Miss Black America's or any Miss America's opinion of how a hotly contested decision should have been decided the weight it deserves upon documentation .Il Duce wrote:Mr. That One, you seem a bit 'truculent' today.
You seem upset by a 'keen, skillful, and poignant' statement by Ms. Twanna Kilgore.
Only because she offered up her own un-biased opinion, that Kenny Norton was looking
good, while Muhammad Ali didn't even get his name mentioned by Miss Black America '1976'.
How Dare That Bitch.......
Wouldn't you agree that it would be nonsensical to take the "word" of a man or woman who has proven to less than truthful in the past?
Re: film of Liston-Folley fight?
Who cares what kind of dialect the former beauty pagent contestant used? I think the fact that Douche uses her opinion as a "celebrity" guest judge to bolster his entirely fictitious interview with Ali speaks volumes in itself. Essentially Douche is saying "who cares if I made this up, a beauty contestant agrees with me so its ok to fabricate quotes and attribute them to someone else." He loves to go on about Business Administration and Math classes (neither of which he shows much aptitude for) but he sure as shit doesnt know much about English 101 or Ethics. The kinds of shit he pulls on a regular basis would have not only got him a failing grade in any of those classes but likely would have gotten him bounced out of college (if he were old enough to attend) just like hes gotten bounced out of forums.
