Go figure !
Tne Tuscaloosa News 02/09/03 only had,
Steve “The Man" Verdan won unanimously over Anton “Flea" Smith.
No weights or hometowns. :(
Fight News wrote,
Junior welterweight Steve Verdin (2-12-1, 1 KO) won a unanimous decision over four rounds against Tupelo, Miss.’s Antonio “The Flea” Smith (7-29-2).
Though the record correlates 2 Antonio Smith of Chicago, IL, he is a featherweight & just fought 4 the Vacant Mississippi State Featherweight Title. AFAIK, he has never fought over 131 lbs.
I chose Antonio Smith of Lex, SC because he was listed as a light welterweight when he lost 2 Frank Armstrong last Dec.
It would help if U have a reference stating exactly which Antonio.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Well the confusion was mine
I don't trust news sites, so I called Jay Deas & he confirmed U as being correct. Smith was at his heaviest at 132 & Verdin was at 136 so officially it was a catch weight fight.
Good catch !
I whish we had more guys like U that know their local areas & are willing 2 help us out.

Well Blue, I have been going to every card on the gulf coast. I try to help out BoxRec as much as possible. I'm also a student, so I have a lot of time on my hands.
There are usually fightnews reports for the fights I go to, but the times that there arn't I give the results, and I look for anything I know to help out.
Till next time..
