Favorite Fighters

Post by DaveyMac »

Just curious to hear who some folks favorite fighters are in some different categories;

Favorite of my lifetime, Favorite from a time before me, favorite today, favorite club fighter, favorite non-HW, favorite HW, fighter you least like to admit you enjoyed, fight that never happened you'd most like to see;
And of course you can add other categories if you want to do so!

I'll go first-

Favorite of my lifetime-- Hard one, I guess I'd say Tommy Hearns or Oscar de la Hoya, oh edit--- Sean O'Grady!

Favorite from a time before me-- Tony Zale definitely, Joe Louis runnerup

Favorite today-- Andre Ward, Canelo Alvarez

Favorite club fighter-- Chris Mills

Favorite non-HW--- Zale

Favorite HW- Joe Louis

Least like to admit-- Tommy Morrison

Fight I'd like to see-- Louis/Ali

Good list. Holmes is my second favourite boxer ever and the man who I regard as the best boxer ever.

I love Holmes to bits, but prime for prime, Ali beats him.

It would be an amazing battle of jabs, though I think Ali's movement could negate Holmes jab better.

I think Ali might put Holmes on the floor as well, Larry gets up of course.

The gyms round my way were brimming when Naz burst onto the scene. My area had a big Muslim community and the kids idolised Naz and flocked in. Even though I was at the other end of the weight spectrum and not a Muslim myself, I loved that time when the gyms were buzzing with loads of little Naz clones trying to emulate him.

Amazing how just the idea of some fighters gets people excited, when others can't no matter what they do. I remember Naz the same way, everyone very excited about him.

Entertaining as fornicate, another boxer who seemed to piss away his talent as he got older.

Of course I'm biased but I think it would be a boring fight with Ali emerging the victor. However, I don't see any knockdowns but you never know with Ali's right that literally came out of nowhere against more than one opponent.

If he got his confidence high and started whipping out those lightening combos I'm sure he could sit most HWs on their ass.
