Lee Purdy v Leonard Bundu Welterweight EuroTitle Dec 14th

Post by Andrew »

Announced today hats off to Hearn for getting this one !!!

But can Purdy even make Welter safely ?? What about that money laundering charge he had, is that dropped ??

Is Bundu any good ?? KO'd Jackiewicz who is pretty solid usually.

Also if I was Frankie Gavin I'd be pretty pi**ed off at this........ unless a better fight is being lined up for him. He comes on here now and then so wouldn't be suprised if he comments on this down the line.

Sure everyone would agree he deserves a Euro title fight more and would toy with Purdy if they met in the ring.

Purdy seems to keep getting these opportunities which is perplexing to me. This is a guy that lost to Lynes ffs. Don't get me wrong Lynes was a good fighter but this was nearer the end of his career *Ps I know Lynes is still going but you know what I mean*

WELTERWEIGHTS

Champ: Leonard BUNDU (IT)
Chall:Gianluca BRANCO (IT)

1. Kell BROOK (GB)
2. Frankie GAVIN (GB)
3. Vyacheslav SENCHENKO (UA)
4. Rafal JACKIEVICZ (PL)
5. Jan ZAVECK (SI/DE)
6. Lee PURDY (GB)

Gavin will be the mandatory challenger soon, so if he wants a European title shot then he can get one.

That's a sickener for Gavin. He'd absolutely toy with Purdy.

Frank needs to start delivering better opponents for Frankie IMO.

What's it got to do with Gavin?

Do all British fighters curse when less talented domestic fighters get good opportunities? I doubt Gavin is bitter about it.

Frankie wanted the Lonsdale belt and no one decent would fight him so what other options did he have? lets judge on who he's put in against in the next year now he has the belt on his mantelpiece!

Oh I saw that. I put a link up. To be fair we dont know for definite that he's guilty yet so he deserves the benefit of the doubt for now. I think in terms of boxing ability he doesnt deserve this shot but hey.

He says he wants to fight top 10 fighters in the world now because it would be a shame to drop back to British title level. All the shite his team spouted after the fight about him not being hurt by a world class fighter seems to have gone to his head. It seems that he believes blocking punches with his face and not throwing any of his own means he belongs at world level.

Good luck with that Frankie with the promotional rivalries! Haha. Saying that though, if Saunders vs Ryder could be made then there's hope yet.

wonder what odds you can get on purdy not making weight.

he's done at welter now. if he couldnt boil just 1lb off for the alexander fight then how will he make the weight for this?

Hats off to matchroom, they have really done well with this. A euro and world title shot for Purdy, the boy lives a charmed life.

That was on fairly short notice though.

He's got two months to train for this fight.

I know! I seem to remember hearing Barry loves the guy, maybe that has everything to do with it.

Imagine what they could do with Frankie.

Didnt Eddie say in one his recent Ifilm interviews that Frankie was one of the top 3 boxers he'd be interested in signing if it was possible at some stage? Im sure he did.

4 weeks i think and they said at the time he was on track to make weight. just got question if a fighter can make weight when all they had to do was lose 1lb to make the fight a world title fight and he couldnt do it.

he's struggled in the past with the mental side of making weight too. hopefully it's behind him though. be a shame to not make weight for this as i think it's a winnable fight for him.
