Nigel Benn v Julian Jackson @ Middleweight

Jackson was a monster puncher but so was Benn at middleweight. Who gets nailed first?

i lean towards Benn. IMO he was just that bit more explosive at 160. you just have to watch him throw punches to assume he's a guy with a high concentration of fast-twitch fibres. but fvck yeah this one ain't going past 4-5 rounds, tops.

This wasn't the best division for either of them, but Benn was bigger and I agree he was a better Middle. He stops Julian 6 or 7 out of 10.

roco u have a knack of thinking up obvious matchups that somehow no one else has thought up.
This is a great one.

Both were murderous punchers at 160 but with Benns amost cartoonish knockouts during his rise coming against lesser opposition than Jackson also he didnt quite have the stop them dead in their tracks, and leave them unconscious with one shot power that Jackson or Mclellan had, but what he did have more than Jackson was speed, and ferocity.Jackson could figure things out...at 160 Benn was reckless and gung ho....those 2 factors mean I see Jackson knocking Benn out for the ten count around the 4th round. Benn would have battered Jackson and floored and cut him but would get caught

Very tough call. I could just as easily visualise Jackson catching Benn flush and finishing him off as I could Benn's savagery overwheming Jackson. It's a 50/50 fight full of fireworks. Not one I'd bet much money on, but one I'd love, love, love to see.

Thanks Mugabi.

I enjoy reading the opinions on these fights from people with knowledge.

I think the reckless but power punching middleweight Benn would have list the firefight. But the more moderate, cleaner boxing supermiddle version could have won late.

Benn was a small super middle & often came in around 73 kilos you know.
The way benn came bulling forward & his jaw was vunerable to the fact he commited himself with every shot. I don't like when people called benn chinny because he was tough & game as they come & fought a lot of big hitting fighters & war'd with them all

Your post had nothing to do with what you quoted. I found it amusing. Ok? Feel better?

Because benn commited so much he was on offer & made oncoming punches more effective if that makes sense.
You look at the worse knock outs & it's normally as the fighter is throwing his own punch do you agree squire?

Who on earth has ever called Benn chinny? Or was that confusion with Jackson?

No, that doesn't make any sense. I never mentioned Nigel's chin in the first place.
