It's strange how we all mock obsessives with other interests and ignore our own, some of the posters on here have fantastic knowledge and a lot of insight; if it were trains they were into we'd throw things at em.

I know a few guys who shared the journey to Scotland with him for the Arthur fight and were in the dressing room. He told Billy Graham that he was "Scared" as his hands were being wrapped then swallowed his fear and went out to produce a great result.

I always found him really approachable. On one occasion he made me lift up the leg of my pants because he wanted us to shake ankles as a greeting as opposed to shaking hands. Then he cracked on with an interview. Gomez is a quote machine.

I thought he beat Arthur mentally during weigh in day before, although I can't find footage now. I also "heard" it was in his contract / agreement he wasn't allowed to try to intimidate khan during their presses / weigh in. Hence he was noticeably quiet in the run up - not that it wouldve mattered.

How good could a 100% dedicated Gomez have been? Who knows. But by his own admission he achieved only a small percentage of what he could've.

I assume there must have been some decent money for gomez in that fight ...as he never came across as a hype man more of a loose cannon (in a respectful sense) so It must have been hard for him to take something like that seriously in a fight ......Was Khan that fragile .....?

Loved the Arthur fight !!! I was a fan of Gomez & he was past it v Arthur & it was a lamb to the slaughter & Gomez proved what he did have left was enough & I was over the moon to see him pull it off!! Truly dramatic fight
