There's 20 shows a year on sky, each prizefighter takes away from the amount of live boxing there is available.

No it doesn't - each prize fighter gives 7 or 8 fights in one three hour show, and it usually makes for good viewing.

Reducing the annual quota of 20 live boxing shows down to 19 and filling the gap with a (for example) rugby game - that's what would take away from the amount of live boxing that's available.

These shows usually sell out and deliver good ratings for Sky. I love the prizefighters, fair enough not everybody does but that's life.

Prizefighter is maximum of 21 rounds in total, plus 1 other fight, usually no longer than 8 rounds. If a full show was scheduled to have 30 rounds live, people would be pretty pissed off. For the Brook show, there's 3 12 rounders and a 10 round fight, plus spare time can be filled by showing undercard fights. I wouldn't even call prizefighter professional boxing, what happened to the rule "All contests must be at least 4 rounds in length"?

I don't mind Prizefighter it builds fighters up and pushes them along for example from recent memory Foot, Ekundayo Gaynor, Jenkins and even Audley all did well and are going on to better things except Audley took a step too far he could have really built himself back up.

Took a step too far?! Well he couldnt just win prizefighter forever and be taken seriously.

He jumped in with top heavyweights.

What was he supposed to do? Fight bums for the rest of his career. He wanted to become a world champion. He wasnt good enough but I dont think he got into pro boxing purely to make up the numbers.

I'd be very surprised if the board grant Toney a licence. Don't they have an age rule? Wasn't Botha refused a licence a few years ago due to "diminished skills"?

i dont mind prize fighter to much as the last one that jenkins won was one of the best so far just the fact that jenkins looks like quality.. but before that the last few ones were a bit of a bore feast....

wow, Toney is coming over - at that level he can probably still clown a few people - not sure what kind of shape he's going to be in mind - not good I would imagine - they must have paid a fair whack to get him over.

i loved the early heavy prizefighters.

my biggest issue atm is the way the promoters release the line-up but then never change it whenever fighters pull out.

boxrec is guilty of this as well.

the nature of this tournament means that the final lineup is often markedly different to the original promise...whether good or bad...

we need to have updates.
its shoddy, unprofessional and , frankly, dishonest not to.

I'd love the 2 other Brits to be Price & Sprott but i can't see it.

I hope the winner is still to be announced though because that will be pretty disappointing if Sexton wins it.

How about chucking Kimbo Slice in there as the novelty fighter or does Toney take up that spot?
