Duran no doubt. A class and notch above Pretty Boy.

I think the Duran that beat Leonard would beat Floyd as well.

Two of the best lightweights ever, fighting at welterweight.

I'd give Duran the edge at either weight, though Floyd is good enough to make it close

Once again, a beautiful boxer plays havoc with Senor Duran.
The Duran of Montreal was a pretty tough guy, but Floyd wouldn't fight him the way Leonard did that night.
It would be a boxing clinic, and a frustrated Duran would probably contemplate "No Mas" all over again.

Duran has said that in his time, Mayweather would be "just another guy."
I agree. Just another guy that beat him.
Floyd by unanimous decision.

I read that. Duran also said the DLH fight was a draw.

I like the Pretty Boy by a decision. I used to hate him and was deeply disappointed when he beat DLH but I have come to appreciate his skills.

You must be tripping. Pretty Boy Floyd beat the Hands of Stone? Pretty Boy is not in Duran's class.

I don't believe that Pretty Boy would have beaten the following fighters:
Sugar Ray Leonard....Leonard would crucify him just like he did to his daddy.
Ken Buchanan.....Buchanan was an exceptional boxer with a great jab and work rate.
Iran Barkley.....Weight class at middleweight TOO BIG for Floyd, even in his prime.

To me, Pretty Boy has not beaten no one EXCEPTIONAL to be considered in the same class as the great Roberto Duran.

I think the most entertaining thought would be to put Marvin Hagler in with Floyd, and then comparing that performance with what Duran was able to muster.

Marvin of course beats them both.....but he catches up with Floyd in a different way...IMHO.

And yes the Buchanan fight might be a pick em...but Leonard and Barkley would defeat Floyd as well.

I'm typically a believer that our current crop of fighters are as good as any in history.....and I have been around since cave men roamed......but some Like Floyd and Roberto are the best of the best. But when these two meet....I don't see Floyd smiling at the final bell.

Leonard went 2-1 against Duran, remember.

Mayweather also beat Zab Judah, Oscar DeLaHoya, Shane Mosley,Ricky hatton, and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Hagler rarely at less than 160 pounds...Let him come down to a fair catch weight and see what happens.

Mayweather doesn't have to prove himself against middleweights. If Duran had success against middles like Hagler and Barkley, then "great."
No one's disputing ATG Duran's fistic credentials. No one sane or unbiased should dispute Mayweather's.
Floyd's style will always trouble the flatfooted, slower Duran.
Give Mayweather credit. He's a boxing genius, and Duran would have discovered that.

Close fight, Duran's pressure and lightning fast feet would surprise Floyd like it did leonard. Mayweather is significantly better on defense than Leonard was, but he doesn't throw as many punches. Duran by decision. I'd like Mayweather's chances better at 135 and he beats Duran soundly at 54.

If you missed it, then go watch it. Was a fascinating encounter that Duran nearly pulled off until his gas tank ran low late.

Leonard

And Duran's loss to Hagler was pretty impressive. Ask yourself how you think Floyd would do against Hagler?

None of those guys were better than prime Leonard on his worst day and Duran probably beats them all like Floyd did.

Duran didn't need a catchweight for Hagler. Why should Floyd?

So now a boxer who started his career at a buck thirty has to come up to 160 to prove himself?

Split the difference at 145 and tell me what happens.

Bob Foster is a IBHOF inductee and got schooled when he tried to move up one weight class...Why do you want the Pretty Boy to move up six or so weight classes from where he started to prove himself?

I don't get why people would hold a performance like that against a fighter because they didn't win. I rate Montreal as Leonard's 5th best performance. There is such a thing as good losses that can enhance a fighters legacy.
