The number is actually 1,039, but don't feel bad its misquoted all the time. I am writing about him. Nat Fleischer mentions him in a couple of his books. BoxRec lists him...just google Abe Hollandersky boxrec. He was the Panamanian Heavyweight champion in 1913, but thats his only title, although he fought Mose King,
Kid Norfolk, Jack Ortega, Tiger Flowers, etc. Only Kid Norfolk fight, of those, is listed in BoxRec. Norfolk was a "Colored" World Title Holder.

He's in a number of short write ups, even appeared in Sports Illustrated in the 70's.

Abraham Hoffman wrote a great little article about him, "Going a Few Rounds with Abe the Newsboy". You can google it. Its very informative and only a couple of pages.

Good Luck, Hope you get this................

Abe wrote a book -- usually they turn up in signed copies!

That is a good source.

The VAST majority of Abe's bouts were exhibitions and even then most of the bouts he lists in his record cannot be verified.
