No doubt he performed as well as he possibly could have, and going the distance with Ali is nothing to take lightly as I said, but it certainly doesn't make Rudi Lubbers a great fighter that could've duplicated Ali's performance against Foreman in Zaire because he lasted 12 rounds with him.Il Duce wrote:Rudi Lubbers,
Did not lose every Round.
The 'first' real good Round that Muhammad Ali had was Round 7..........
I had it 9-1-2 in Rounds, but Rudi was 'competitive', for what he brought to the table.
Don't you think.........
I have no doubt that Lubbers was one of the better fighters out of Holland in the 1970's...hell maybe the very best.
And he put up a game effort against a fighter who was leaps and bounds beyond anything he ever could be. That's something to be proud of, but that's pretty much Lubbers only claim to fame.
Given the other 7 guys that beat him, I think it's safe to say he couldn't beat any of the Top fighters in the world from the 1970's.
He couldn't beat Joe Bugner...and Joe Bugner wasn't on the level of a guy like Foreman, or Ali either.
