Steve Smoger (spoiler)ish

Post by ShadrachSimmo »

What did people make of some of his behaviour last night?

Telling Murat to cut out the sh!t or he'll be disqualified but more so throwing Murat by the face at the end of the 12th.

It was quite a dirty fight but a top ref should conduct himself with a bit more decorum surely.

You spoiled the fight; I was looking on here quite inadvertantly just before I watched the Hopkins bout. Thanks for spoiling my life :OhYes:

The ref was really over the top and no way should he have been hugging and kissing Bernard after the bout; the ref was fair enough through the bout but there was no need to shove Murat.

The fight was weird, so Smoger got weird.

It's understandable.

I thought Smoger acted like a dick to be honest,i like him usually but last night, the swearing, grabbing by the face, refusing to dock points when Murat punched Hopkins twice on the floor, cuddling Bernard as he was announced as the winner WTF??????????

The commisions should have a word with him to keep his emotions in check

Bad days at the office,we all have,em :P

I thought he did fine, Christ, some refs would have gone ballistic after the punches on the ground and called the fight off ruining it for the fans and the shove in the Murats face was for being a dick and hitting after the break time and time again but Hopkins did it too and Smoger likes to let fights flow. Nothing wrong with a bit of verbal either.

Cant say I like him, as a Ref. He does like to milk his moments and I won't forget when he was referring a Zab Judah fight and he kept referring to Judah as ,'Zabby' and clearly favoured him over the other guy. He tries too hard sometimes and does blatantly favour some fighters over others.

Overrated, in my opinion.

Was that on the Calzaghe-Jones undercard?

Best in the business for me, he tells it as it is, not afraid to act in the moment, Murat deserved a hand off, he was totally out of order, its not a cissy sport so let
the ref react in the same way, in other words "eff off whats your game son" which if Smoger spoke cockney would have been his comment to Karo.

Never disappointed me and would happily have him referee anyone of my favourites
