Davie Drummond fought to a draw against Jody Meikle

Anyone at the radisson that could give us a round up of what happened?

I wasn't there but I don't think the mccallum result is a huge shock when made I thought it was a 50/50 fight. I'm really shocked at Davie Drummond result though my brother was there but not spoke to him yet to see how the fights where

I agree with you, Ball is no mug and it certainly was a step up for McCallum - more surprised that as the away fighter he came away with quite a clear points win.

Drummond on the other hand, I thought that would have been a routine victory.

I agree with you, Ball is no mug and it certainly was a step up for McCallum

It sums up a lot of what is wrong when a lad who is 10-0 is seen as stepping up to go against a lad who is 6-14

Im a massive fan of Jason Ball as a fighter if he had been managed like prospects are managed he could easily have a much more sexy looking record if managed like most modern prospects. He takes hard fights. I remember watching his scrap with Steve Harkin iand I was impressed with his ability to just keep coming.

One of the rare opponents along with Peter Mcdonagh among others that comes to win every fight.

Totally agree. I think if Jason Ball had been promoted and matched better as a prospect, he would have a better record but he's come through the hard way and gained a lot of experience from it. There is still time for Jason to win a strap, he's almost a dark horse that may flourish towards the end of his career.

Looking at Jason's record, his last 8 opponents had not lost a single fight between them! Right up until his win this week that is. That's a tough road for any fighter to go down. If he dedicates himself correctly and isn't constantly matched as hard, a few confidence gaining wins could just see him get to that next level, where an English title contest (not saying a victory) wouldn't be out of the question.

Well in the aforementioned contest against Harkin he did win the central area belt so like you say I dont see it as being out of the question and all his other wins apart from Harkin and a draw have come against undefeated opposition. I think he balances his boxing career with a professional MMA career as well in which he holds a very respectable 20-13 record with 18 of his wins coming by stoppage and fought as recently as the 5th of October on a pro MMA show.

All in all he has had over 50 professional fights. If i was a promoter I wouldnt hesitate to use him on a show as he is a proper test and provides entertainment.

Is that allowed competing in MMA aswell as pro boxing ?

Probably not but I suppose its hard to stop all the governing bodies of each sport being so fragmented though it is a grey area if he was knocked out badly in boxing/MMA what would stop him fighting the next week or two in the other sport?

quite a monor shock, i watched David Brophy easily fend Ball off for 4 rounds back in september. Well done to the doncaster man though.

Jason ball is a 10x3-12x3 fighter 4x3 are no good to him he's an handful to most over the longer distance.
