Rose v Maciel
Re: Rose v Maciel
I watched the fight again and scored it a draw but this time I could make a case for Rose nicking it by a round and likewise for Maciel winning by two. The worrying thing was that Maciel was slow, crude and wild but still connected with Rose quite a bit. Hope he gets his fight against Andrade or Martirosyan.

It was a bit worrying but there aren't many guys who fight like that, he comes across as a guy who is tough to look good against.Deno1986 wrote:I watched the fight again and scored it a draw but this time I could make a case for Rose nicking it by a round and likewise for Maciel winning by two. Rose went up in my estimation but I think that's because I had a pretty low opinion of him before. Onwards and upwards!
Re: Rose v Maciel
The fighters you have mentioned would beat rose, do you really think that was worth an eliminator ? Rose was knocked out by a journeyman and people thought he was beat by another journeyman Noble, granted he has improved, but don't deserve a world title shot, Kel Brook would destroy Rose inside 3 rounds, some people get the breaks others don't.gmanji wrote:Anzi wrote:The Argentine was dreadful, just throwing hay makers and missing with many or hitting arms, his conditioning was very bad, Rose showed how brittle he is when put under pressure and did not work enough, a poor Eliminator for a world title, the guy who will be facing Rose for title must be licking his lips, When you think of who Kell Brook has met and still not fought for a world title it's a joke.
Ndou, Matthew Hatton, Carson Jones X2, Senchenko are Brooks biggest names. Hardly World beaters are they........ Senchenko won a World Title fight granted but he isnt the best. Rose would box Senchenkos ears off for 12 rounds. No problem.
Re: Rose v Maciel
Brian was starched by Maxwell for a number of reasons, reasons which have all been well documented. These are not excuses, these are facts, I was at the fight and Brian was shocking. Not his real self. His head was up his arse for obvious reasons. He beat him up in the rematch which you obviously forget to mention.Anzi wrote:The fighters you have mentioned would beat rose, do you really think that was worth an eliminator ? Do I think the fight was worthy of an eliminator? I don't see any reason why not, they were ranked 4 and 5 by the WBO, the light middleweight division isnt red hot at the minute bar floyd and canelo, and Brian has earnt his shot imho. Eddie Hearn gets a fair amount of stick but he sticks by his word with his fighters and gets them world title shots but they still need to be hard earnt.
His scrap with Lee Noble on his first fight after 5 fights was close, his second was not even remotely close so dont kid yourself.
You are clearly a hater as all the fighters in question only Ndou is his prime and a prime Senchenko would trouble Bri. Matthew Hatton??? I would box his ears off and I havent boxed for 14 years haha.
Ask Kell himself if he thinks he would KO Bri in 3. Im fairly sure the answer would be no, We are not comparing Bri with Kell anyway, Kell is a fantastic fighter and has earnt his shot the long hard way. When he gets his shot I have no doubt he will take it with both hands.
Brian has his shot, he is up agaisnt it no end but one thing is for sure he will put up a great fight and I can see it beng close on points either way regardless who he fights.
Hes English, is a great kid, good at his job, get behind the lad.
Re: Rose v Maciel
Gmanji , I am not a hater just stating the facts, We are talking about journeymen here, who have given Rose trouble, so what if he beat them the next time, we are talking about a world title , the guy Rose fought the weekend was very poor and Rose struggled against him, so what if he was ranked in the top 5, with the right people behind you can be put in a position, you said it yourself about Hearn, Rose was pushed to the point where he was nearly taken out, not good for someone who no doubt will be fighting for a world title and if Kel was matched against him, he would say that he would take Rose out in 3 rounds, fair play to rose he did well at british level and as I said has improved a lot, but he is going into a world title fight, lacking in certain areas, though he does make the most of what he has got, he lacks in power, strength and is too up right, showed toughness and heart in there, but against the best he will need a lot more, Kel won his eliminator in style and showed he has all the tools to take a world title,, did Rose do the same ?
Re: Rose v Maciel
In all the debate we have both missed out something, did Rose even win the fight ? I don't think he did, but it was a close fight so I will give benefit of the doubt to the British and home fighter.Anzi wrote:Gmanji , I am not a hater just stating the facts, We are talking about journeymen here, who have given Rose trouble, so what if he beat them the next time, we are talking about a world title , the guy Rose fought the weekend was very poor and Rose struggled against him, so what if he was ranked in the top 5, with the right people behind you can be put in a position, you said it yourself about Hearn, Rose was pushed to the point where he was nearly taken out, not good for someone who no doubt will be fighting for a world title and if Kel was matched against him, he would say that he would take Rose out in 3 rounds, fair play to rose he did well at british level and as I said has improved a lot, but he is going into a world title fight, lacking in certain areas, though he does make the most of what he has got, he lacks in power, strength and is too up right, showed toughness and heart in there, but against the best he will need a lot more, Kel won his eliminator in style and showed he has all the tools to take a world title,, did Rose do the same ?

You sound like your arguing for the sake of arguing. Plenty of fighters have lost on their way to world titles, many numerous times. Freddie Pendleton, Steve Robinson, Salido... Your arguing that because he has one loss- he will never be able to perform at a level capable of beating an as yet undetermined opponent??? That's a lot of what ifs by anyone's standards.Anzi wrote:Gmanji , I am not a hater just stating the facts, We are talking about journeymen here, who have given Rose trouble, so what if he beat them the next time, we are talking about a world title?
The fact is he has beaten and continues to beat top class, rated fighters and while being a nice lad he's also showing a hell of a lot of bottle and metal at world class to do it. Not sure of your motives and its all good debate I suppose but you won't find many people in the game with a bad thing to say about Brian, he's a really nice kid who deserves every bit of success he gets. He's had to do it the hard way most of his journey.
Re: Rose v Maciel
Like you say it was a close fight, could've gone either way, I had him up by one round and i've watched it twice. others saw it different. If you watch the fight again and count punches landed rather than who had the most workrate Bri clearly landed the more and cleaner shots.Jeff Thomas wrote:You sound like your arguing for the sake of arguing. He gets up for the bigger fights and always prevails. Close account or not.
He has earnt his shot, He will put up a better fight than a lot of British boxers of late thats for sure.
Re: Rose v Maciel
I don't think the debate here is whether people are 'getting behind the lad' or wishing him well. I will be rooting for him in any world title shot, he's English and a decent lad so i wish him all the best.
The main point for me is that the way he's struggled to beat certain fighters on the way up does not bode particularly well for world level. That's not a particularly outrageous point to make and is backed up by the facts. If they find a fairly weak beltholder or vacant shot then he's in with a decent chance, but I don't think he's anywhere near the top 5-10 at his weight on ability.

I wouldn't be quite sure about that mate as they sparred a lot of rounds before this fightAnzi wrote:The fighters you have mentioned would beat rose, do you really think that was worth an eliminator ? Re: Rose v Maciel
Top class, not top class, being a nice lad has got nothing to do about it, I think he is a good role model and a nice lad, but we are not talking about popularity stakes here, we are talking about levels and I think he not good enough yet for a world title, he needs more fights to iron out his weaknesses, in my opinion, you may not like it, because you are emotionally involved, but that is it, it's a debate not an argument, some for some against, that's boxing, not saying he is rubbish, like some idiots on here do about fighters, just that he is not complete enough as a fighter, at that level, credit to him though for finding a way to win, each time, but the highest level, well ?Jeff Thomas wrote:You sound like your arguing for the sake of arguing. Re: Rose v Maciel
The only person in an emotional relationship here is you with kell brook
Re: Rose v Maciel
Adam don't be a fool, I don't really know Kel Brook, just have to admit, he is very good, the problem with forums is alliances, people cling onto other people and they support each other, instead of thinking for themselves, it's a debate, that's all. Sparring is Sparring, fighting is fighting, was you there ? Are you saying if Rose met Brook now, that he would beat him ? Different level mate, sorry.

Why are you even comparing Kell to Brian? Just because they both fought a world title eliminator??
Kell would beat Brian imo. But who is arsed? Nobody apart from you. They would never fight each other anyway.
Re: Rose v Maciel
Exactly! Now you get the point, they both fought eliminators, one made the step up in style against an ex world champion, who had never been stopped that way before, the other fought an average, poorly prepared, crude fighter and had a real hard time. Kel and Brian could fight each other in the future, Kel is a big Welter and could end up moving up a weight division, so to say never is very fool hardy, you feel Kel would beat Brian if they met, so I am not going over the top, am I.gmanji wrote:Anzi wrote:Adam don't be a fool, I don't really know Kel Brook, just have to admit, he is very good, the problem with forums is alliances, people cling onto other people and they support each other, instead of thinking for themselves, it's a debate, that's all. Re: Rose v Maciel
I am a massive Brook fan but there is no need to pull Rose down or cheapen his victory.
I like Rose, lovely man and a tidy boxer, and so will be roaring the lion on when his shot comes.
I've been guilty of it loads, but we shouldn't have to big one UK fighter up by dragging down another.

Re: Rose v Maciel
DMA You have missed the point, I am comparing the 2 performances, not dragging anyone down to build another, I don't live in denial nor bury my head in the sand, if a fighter has weaknesses, surely it is better to find them, eliminate them before it is too late rather then ignore them, this fight was a wake up call, he got the result he wanted, but needs to improve massively, before he fights for the world title, end of.
Re: Rose v Maciel
You made your point pages ago, all you are doing now is dragging Rose down.Anzi wrote:DMA You have missed the point, I am comparing the 2 performances, not dragging anyone down to build another, I don't live in denial nor bury my head in the sand, if a fighter has weaknesses, surely it is better to find them, eliminate them before it is too late rather then ignore them, this fight was a wake up call, he got the result he wanted, but needs to improve massively, before he fights for the world title, end of.
Re: Rose v Maciel
Brian can't win a lot of people in here thought he'd get beat before the fight because Maciel was well schooled tough and has a good dig and now he won the lad he fought was poorly condition and average.. Make your minds up
Re: Rose v Maciel
Brian can win on here; he's done fantastic to rebuild and to get himself in to this position, he rematched Maxwell and beat him in style; I thought Maciel had won the other night but thought Brian was brave and kept in there though he looked to be hurt a few times. Brian seems a very decent man and there is no bragging or nastiness with him. If he gets a title shot I hope he wins though I feel he is a decent European level boxer, that's not to put him down just my view.
Re: Rose v Maciel
It's a boxing forum, people have opinions, if you're gona act like a baby if someone doesn't agree cos you're all loved up with a boxer, I suggest you don't bother with the internet.
Re: Rose v Maciel
I agree everyone has an opinion, some people see what others don't, I tell it how it is, it's a hard sport, boxers go through a lot, but there not a person on this forum who has not posted anything negative and while you get some fighters who get lucky breaks, others don't, some fighters deserve a world title shot, but never get the chance, Hall has now got a world title shot, do you think he deserves one ? I personally am not all loved up with any fighter, fighters come and go, a new one you like eventually pops up, just because I feel someone is not quite ready, don't me that I don't want him to win, when he gets his shot.TheCobra wrote:It's a boxing forum, people have opinions, if you're gona act like a baby if someone doesn't agree cos you're all loved up with a boxer, I suggest you don't bother with the internet.
