Ernesto Marcel vs Kuniaki Shibata
Speaking about robberies, I recommend anybody on this forum to watch and score this fight on youtube. I could not beleve the decision. It was one of the worst decisions ever in boxing history. I have seen robberies like Whitaker vs Chavez, and Whitaker vs Jose Luis Ramirez, but they do not come cloae ti this one. Ernesto Marcel clearly won the fight. Kuniaki Shibata was brave and courageous, probably the most courageous champion ever out of Japan, but, he did not know where the punches were coming from. Marcel won from here to Australia

What did you score it Elmer ? Maybe I'll have a go at it this week.

I scored it 146 to 141 in favor of Marcel. It could have been a larger margin.
Re: Ernesto Marcel vs Kuniaki Shibata
I think you mean 71-66, it was a 5 pt must. The judges had it 72-69 Shibata, 71-65 Marcel, 71-71 Even.
Re: Ernesto Marcel vs Kuniaki Shibata
I just watched and scored it. GREAT FIGHT !, but I had it noticeably closer. Either 69-67 or 68-67 for Marcel depending upon whether or not he had a point deducted in round 6. It looked like he did, but I'm not sure. I actually had Shibata ahead through 10, as I thought he was countering very effectively on the inside, but Marcel came up huge in the last third of the fight. I was ready to score the 12th a 2 pt round for Marcel when Shibata landed a couple hard shots to the head in the final 40 seconds or so. Later when I have time I'll post my scorecard. Thanks again Elmer !

Re: Ernesto Marcel vs Kuniaki Shibata
I didn't bother with the 5 point must jargon. I don't roll that way. Marcel deserved to win by at least 3-4 points on a regular card. Great fight, though, and Shibata held his own, but Marcel really pulled away during the final 4 rounds, and turned Shibata's face into hamburger. Very clear who the winner was, but at least they didn't give Shibata the victory. Also, in the 6th(?) round did the ref deduct a point for the head butt from Marcel?
