Is Audley Harrrison dumb?
He's fighting Danny Williams for the British #1 spot, his most attrtactive bout in years. But all he does is calling Danny a clubfighter and a failure.
Well, Audley may actually be correct, but in saying this he takes away interest for the bout. And should he fall short of knocking Williams out in a few rounds, people will say Audely can't even beat a clubfighter convincingly.
This is how you dig your on grave.

Though youre right in what your saying.
I think that Harrison is saying such words in a bid to boost his own confidence and convince himself that he can beat Williams. I think Harrison has big self-doubt, hence why it has taken him 5 years - and not 5 fights - to step up to the (British) plate.
Personally I reckon Williams will bully and batter Audley.

I do find Harrison rather arrogant and selfimportant... he calls Williams a faliure yet Williams has still accomplished more in his career than Harrison by a long way. If Audely loses this, which I can see happening if Williams is in the right frame of mind, then I think its curtains for Harrison. The times come for him to back up all the talk...

I can't see that happening unless Danny is shot. If Danny is even just 80 or 90% he will give Audely a hard fight and I think if Danny is on form and motivated he will outlast Harrison and ko him in about 7 rounds.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I've thought about this bout, and I think Harrison will win easily.
A lot will be told by Dannys weight... if he is 19 stone or over I'll be worried for him... 252 to 260 is about what he should be...

That sounds good. The way Danny has to fight I think is to ty and fight at a fast pace and wear Audely down. Danny is stronger and faster and technically better than Harrison I feel and really this is there for him to win if he's right.Kevin wrote:According to Danny yesterday he is 18st 5lbs at the moment and hopes to get down to 18st for the fight

I'm not convinced about Harrisons chin... when I've seen him tagged he hasn't reacted well.

Yes I thought Mayweather too was stupid for callng Gatti a C Class Bum (imagine if Gatti got lucky) but I think fighters want to get a pychological edge - in their mind and the opponents - if an opponent feels inferior he'll fight inferior. Gatti certainly felt inferior and lost before it started. Great fighters have complete contempt for their opponents - Duran, Ali, Mayweather. The belief your better gives you confidense to fight your best fight.
This is step up time for Audley - I think he has the skill, jab and countering ability to win a UD

Does he have the stamina to last the 12 though in a hard fight? I am not convinced he has. Certainly an interesting fight, and yes Audley Harrison is as dumb as they come sometimes.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Yes I thought Mayweather too was stupid for callng Gatti a C Class Bum (imagine if Gatti got lucky) but I think fighters want to get a pychological edge - in their mind and the opponents - if an opponent feels inferior he'll fight inferior. I don't know whether Audley has the bottle or the stamina to come through a tough 12 rounder but can Danny Williams provide a tough 12 rounder? I doubt Williams will be in the shape to do what is required and make Audley work at an uncomfortable pace. Williams cannot afford to come in as a blob he must be in shape to win this fight.
Audley will probably win because he is better at controling fights and fighting the fight he wants to which will be key. Danny would have to put him under sustained pressure.
Also audley is a good body puncher not realy seen Williams work the body thus Williams will need a lot more stamina to be there in the 12rnd. Also I just think audley has more class both on the inside and at range.

It's jsut the basic shit talk that takes place before every fight. Fighters dont think too much when they claim the guy si a "fake" or a "bum". It makes it sound liek they know the guy isn't that good or it's very hypocritical. If the guy is wasting hsi time fighting him, but he thinks hes a bum, why bother? It's pretty dumb to me. i'd rather talk up my opponent, make him think he's better than me by my own judgment, and then pound them.
Audley certainly isn't dumb. But he won't beat Danny Williams. For 3 rounds he might look reasonably comfortable, probably be in front but it'll be downhill from there on. I totally believe in the confidence coming from Williams for this fight.
I too expect him to bully Harrison and score a stoppage in the second half.

he's been a dominant british champion and fought for a world title. a clubfighter is a journeyman or a win some lose some merchant.

The comments going back and forth between the 2 fighters are just there to build the fight up and to keep it in the headlines as is the same with most other fights.
Dannys going to struggle to get close to Audley and when Audley stuns Danny with his BIG left he'll let his hands go and finish him in style. Dannys got a punchers chance at best IMO
Has Williams had much south paw experiance?Chesney_Chambers wrote:silkov wrote: Danny is stronger and faster and technically better than Harrison I feelI beg to differ. Audley is definately faster and hes technically a better boxer IMO
