Hello all, for the past 2 years I have been a trainee referee for the BBBoC, and for the last year been in the ring refereeing the fights. Unfortunately due to advice from the Doctor I have had to end my spell as a referee. I have a heart condition which would stop me from passing medicals. I am gutted about this but would just like to thank everyone from the BbBoc for everything they have done for me especially Kenny Pringle and Victor Louchlin as well as the guys who come up for title fights. On the plus side I am now a inspector, it's not the same but keeps me involved in the sport I love.

Must be gutting to to know that you will never qualify to do your ideal job in sport you love, but at least you can stay in albeit doing a different job.

I am a good friend of Dougies and I am extremely gutted for him. I saw how well he was progressing as a referee. Having boxed myself and still planning to continue to do so, I know what attributes I would prefer my referee of my fight to have. He comanded the ring well, was authoritive and most of all only got involved when necessary. I know many professional boxers that have had him referee their fights and I have always asked them what their thoughts/opinion of him was. They all only had good words to say and they enjoyed the way he refereed there fights. They liked the fact he would allow them to work inside without getting involved unless they where holding excessively etc.

I know how much he loves the sport and how much he enjoyed being a referee which is the main reason why I am gutted for him. Just glad he has another opportunity being involved as an inspector instead. Also wish him all the luck, health and wealth in the future.

Dougie, your lucky you have a heart condition because if you didn't, I would give you a damn good whooping. :bag:

To the main point, sorry you can't do the ref job that you wanted I know how hard you worked at it and I know you were good at it. You will just need to enjoy your new job and you can keep me entertained with your boxing knowledge.

Been lucky enough to do a few very good fights. My first fight in the ring will alway be one of my favourites because I finally got in the ring. The best fights are
Mickey Towell v Tom Bowen. Brilliant fight
Jamie Wilson v Mohammed Waqas. Again superb.
Sammy Hill v Richard Bitner was a very good fight too.
