Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
I really cannot wait for this fight. So many people are writing off Groves and I think it is a mistake. Groves IMO has come on leaps and bounds since he beat Degale. His speed and movement is excellent and better than Froch.
I really can seeing this being an out and out war with a lot of punches being traded. I think Groves will move around for the first part of the fight and end up getting into a trade off. I think it will be real value for money and that is coming from someone who hate PPV events. Not long now!
Come on Groves take that belt off him and we can expect a rematch in the New Year!

Have to disagree.
I think this goes about six rounds with groves getting off canvas more than once.
18 months too early for groves, both in terms of getting froch at right time and his own development

Yes, think this is going to be easy night's work for Froch. Froch is, despite his age, at his physical peak, and is now mentally matured having overcome losses, turned around big fights that were going against him, and destroyed fighters who were supposed to be the favourite going into the fight.
Groves will have to fight the perfect fight to beat Froch at this stage.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Groves will go down during their first genuine exchange.
This might even be a KO1 for Froch, with Groves head flying off into the 15th row of the crowd.
A proper "home run" punch that will make Groves a youtube sensation, like Kostya did for Judah.
Similar to Apollo vs Ivan Drago... I just hope that trainer who wears the pork pie hat throws in the towel and doesn't hesitate like Balboa did.
NOOOOOOOOO !

I also believe it will be easy work for Froch. Even if Groves starts of well it wont take to long before Froch takes control and starts to dominate.
My prediction is Groves getting sparked out inside 6. If i had to put money on it i'd split my stake between rounds 3 & 4.
If i'm wrong and Groves is still there during the later rounds, i expect it will be down to him having employed some pretty serious back peddling tactics. I cant see him keeping Froch at bay any other way.

Your probably right, i suspect as soon as Froch catches him clean with a big shot he'll be in serious trouble.G0mez wrote:Groves will go down during their first genuine exchange.
I'm anticipating Groves to employ some ugly spoiling tactics, a lot of side to side movement and not looking to engage. Even still, i don't think it will take Froch long to nail him clean and get him going, we know when Froch gets him going curtain times just around the corner.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
I think it will take Froch a while to pin Groves down and it will be a cagey, boring fight for the first 6 or 7 rounds. I think eventually Groves will tire and Froch will catch up with him stopping him mid-to-late.
No way Froch 'sparks' him though. Froch doesn't spark anyone. He's not a murderous puncher like some would have you believe... what he is, is very tough and very fit, and that will be enough to see Groves off at this stage of their respective careers.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Paul Smith wobbled Groves, as soon as Froch starts connecting with any frequency it's goodnight.
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
you never know. froch tends not to impress, when you expect him to. groves could catch him with something sneaky. still, I expect froch to win.
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Froch is too professional and has worked too hard to get to where he is to risk it all against a fighter unproven at world level in Groves. He'll be up for this and will beat Groves bad I reckon.
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
It bugs me when people say that a fighter hasnt caught a fighter at the right time. It's basically saying wait till he's shot and then fight him. As fans, we shouldnt be saying that crap.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
I really don't think Groves will improve that drastically in the next 18 months no matter who he fights so I think saying 'it's 18 months too early for Groves' is a bit of a flawed argument (no offence to whoever said that.)
I personally think Groves in defeat will announce himself as being a top Supermiddleweight who will eventually go on and win a World title.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Agreed, but the concern here is that Groves is to 'green'. Its a fair point IMO, a bit more expierience at world level would have certainly helped but good on him for going for it now, he obviuosly believes he's ready.columbo wrote:It bugs me when people say that a fighter hasnt caught a fighter at the right time. Travis Dickinson knocked him stone cold in a round - and that was in the amateurs during one of his final bouts and had already lost handily to him before.

Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
Groves has the ability win!! I favour froch but I wouldn't be suprised if groves out points him.if groves stays up on the boards if his feet & stops froch from pinning him down he will win. He's under frochs skin & if froch comes bulling in he will pay & groves has power & speed to stop him in his tracks. Dirrell stunned froch a few times jt really hurt him & I believe groves can. I see groves taking a lead early on & froch clawing his way back in with some guts & strength for a late ko
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
As long as Froch gets sparked I'm happy, unfortunately on past evidence that doesn't seem likely, so any situation that involves him retiring and shutting his gob for good will do.
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
This is one of those fights your gonna look back and think.... why did I think this was gonna be a good fight? I give Groves 5 rounds if he is lucky. This is a fight 2 boxers on 2 different levels and when you go back on box rec to view Froch's record you'll see all those quality names and then Groves???? it just doesn't makes sense...Only winner ..Fast car!TopGun wrote:I really cannot wait for this fight. He 'sparked' Bute over and over. Froch Stoppage looks a good bet, Groves showing all the signs of a delusional fighter, just left his trainer, trash talking and trying to convince himself he is ready.Groove Armada wrote:Exactly, who has he 'sparked' at World Level?Happy Slapper wrote:I think it will take Froch a while to pin Groves down and it will be a cagey, boring fight for the first 6 or 7 rounds. Froch is overhyped.
It's all above levels in Boxing and Froch is a few above Groves still.

MODS - can you arrange this to be set up?
I suggest we both BACS the money to you, and you can transfer it to the winner after ?
Are you serious, because I'm 100% deadly serious.
Re: Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year
i keep telling myself that groves can give him a fight
but i suspect he is actually a level or 2 below froch and this might go the way of the bute fight, another guy i reckoned would be a worthy opponent for froch.
i'd like to see grove do this as froch has behaved like a bit of a cock in the build up. but i just can't see it
