Froch vs Groves - Makings Of Fight of the Year

Im a fan of both guys, groves is a very good fighter but its all about levels and timing and this fight has come too early for him. I would be absolutely shocked if this is anything than a one sided smashing ala bute style. And to be completely honest without booths tactics groves isnt going to have great tactics on his side either.

There's this illusion that Froch is a puncher. He's not at world level. A drained and fragile Bute that was beaten by accumulation doesn't make Froch a puncher. A

He still looks clumsy at times, but he is tough, he is awkward and he is strong. However, if Groves can box with Carl a bit and get into a rhythm then I can see the upset.

Amazed at how everyone has written Groves off. His performance against Glen Johnson was far better than what Froch did and it wasn't that long after he fought Froch.

Glen's performances dropped off pretty severely after the Froch fight. He didn't have much left at all by the time Groves got to him and he still gave George all he could handle in the early running.

Not so sure he did Riddick. I just looked on youtube and the fight isn't up there. What I can remember is that he gave Glen a massive beating and perhaps should have been stopped. Regardless of this you cannot read a great deal into the fight.

Could only stand watching around 30 secs of the usual awful car crash Adam & Johnny show - but feel sorry for any of their guests, perched awkwardly on those daft stools.

George was obviously doing as he was told - by his trainer: show Froch you aren't intimidated ; and by Hearn & Smith: for god's sake hype the bloody PPV for all it's worth.
Froch gets a pass, he's the bad ass and can just sit there and look pissed off ( which he's ace at ).

Groves has looked like a world class, lights out puncher of late ( though he showed signs of that right back near his debut ) and back in the summer I was talking on here and said Adonis was probably the biggest hitter at SM - but next up was Groves.

So it's a real possibility that Groves might just be the biggest puncher out there at SM now - we won't know for sure until he connects cleanly against Froch - and surely he will, unless Carl catches him cold.

I think he's the big puncher in this fight - but his chin aint great, and Carl can put him in trouble with those heavy hands, there's no doubt there - but he might be canny enough to stay out of danger long enough to land a few big shots on Carl, and make him think twice about storming in regardless.

Froch is so confident in his iron chin, I wouldn't be surprised to see Groves drop him, or at least shake him up.

I think it will take Froch a while to pin Groves down and it will be a cagey, boring fight for the first 6 or 7 rounds. I think eventually Groves will tire and Froch will catch up with him stopping him mid-to-late.

No way Froch 'sparks' him though. Froch doesn't spark anyone. He's not a murderous puncher like some would have you believe... what he is, is very tough and very fit, and that will be enough to see Groves off at this stage of their respective careers.

He 'sparked' Bute over and over. Froch Stoppage looks a good bet, Groves showing all the signs of a delusional fighter, just left his trainer, trash talking and trying to convince himself he is ready.

It's all above levels in Boxing and Froch is a few above Groves still.

The amount of crap I got given on here saying Groves is better than Froch, some people need to eat humble pie and apologise. as Roger Mayweather would say 'some of you don't know shit about boxing'
