There is one thing I'll do is be honest.. I think Vasilev wouldn't be a worthwhile opponent for Ronnie. As for Pudisov at this late notice I think this is the best kind of fight that we could of expected. He will cause some problems and he had never been stopped so he's a tough durable guy. I'm sure you would agree Billy it's good to get opponents who are tough and is a decent opponent this late I'm the build up to the fight. This is Pudisovs big chance he will come to win and try and upset the apple cart.. As you've said many times Davie you want 50/50 fights on paper this clearly isn't another mark time fight, I genuinly beleive Ronnie would have been fighting for a domestic title with his previous manager by now.daviddee wrote:There is one thing I'll do is be honest.. Re: Aberdeen 16th November
He's a journeyman, he'll come to give a good account of himself, but lose, winning will prevent him from getting fights in future and he hasn't boxed for nearly a year. Beating him won't send out a message to anyone, he's a journeyman. Why can't they get someone like Sean Hughes or Kevin O'Hara in to fight Ronnie? They could even look abroad, Mate that fought Ormond in September seems to be available and he's been over here for small hall shows before or Mizsei that fought Scott Harrison and Tom Stalker. Surely one of them would take the fight, even at two weeks notice or more considering Ronnie's been on the show without an opponent for a while.daviddee wrote:There is one thing I'll do is be honest.. Re: Aberdeen 16th November
I think the point is he doesn't see himself as a journeymen. He's been in and narrowly lost to Chris Goodwin. His record shows that he has been in a lot of tight decisions away from home. I think he is better than the guys you have mentioned. I don't know why these fights weren't offered that's down too Tommy Gilmour. Billy I tend to agree with you Tony may have got that title shot by now. But on what terms would Ronnie have been tied too. Also I'm sure if those offers were made they would of also contacted Tommy as he seems to get title fights for others. I'm sure Tommy has a long term plan for Ronnie and he needs to get time to bring him through
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Hughes and O'Hara have challenged for domestic titles, Podusovs isn't anywhere near that level, he was comfortably beaten by Maxi Hughes, who's an area level fighter, Mate gave George Michael Carman a decent fight, Mizsei has been the full 12 rounds and the only men to stop him have been Harrison and De Vitis. Those are fights that will move Ronnie towards title fights, O'Hara could have been made for the Celtic title, leading to a British title eliminator in the new year. Beating Latvian journeymen proves and gains nothing, just a few more rounds under the belt. At 28, nearly 29, the time for fighting journeymen is over, if that means Gilmour has to put his hand in his pocket and fork out for a better opponent, so be it.daviddee wrote:I think the point is he doesn't see himself as a journeymen. Apart from Ohara I think the rest are around the same level I'm afraid. That's just my opinion. Ohara is up at light welter if I'm not mistaken. Hughes is on the slide and the other 2 are journeymen. I don't think he's a journeymen and his record shows that as well. Is he an ideal opponent in my eyes?? no!! Will it be an easy fight?? no!! Got to find a balance and I think keeping active is important. Like I said he hasn't been stopped and has wins over Al Hamidi and Curran who are decent operators. If Ronnie can win by a clean shut out or stoppage it will be a good performance. Hopefully Tommy can get him moving forward after this fight
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Imo ronnie is just being mis-managed. Surley his manager has a plan wen he wants him to box and against wat level of opponent. Your never gunna get a top ranked fighter take a 50-50 on 2 weeks notice which is the level now ronnie is at. Will b interesting to see what happens after this fight. I have heard this lad is useful he was asked to fight chris a while back but got offered a fight the same date and took the other fight.

Re: Aberdeen 16th November
O'Hara's last fight was at light welter, but I'm sure he could get down to 9st 4.lbs. Mate and Mizsei are slightly better than journeymen and have experience over longer distances, but even if they are journeymen, what's Podusovs? His record is 4-5, journeyman standard, Al Hamidi and Curran are journeymen, they come to lose, beating them proves little. If Hughes is on the slide, now is the time to fight him, beating Latvians moves you nowhere in anyone's eyes, at least Hughes has championship experience and would help towards getting a title fightdaviddee wrote:Apart from Ohara I think the rest are around the same level I'm afraid. Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Point is fighting all of those everyone would still be expecting him to win!! This is the opponent lined up. I feel he will give the same experience to a Ronnie as fighting any of the guys you have listed. Curran never comes to lose. He's certainly not a journeyman he just takes hard fights. His team expect him to at least win an area title. As for Pudisov I'm sure he will be the same. No way he would fight Ronnie unless he thinks he can win. I would rather he fought someone ranked above him in the British a Rankings but I think this fight is okexpe wrote:O'Hara's last fight was at light welter, but I'm sure he could get down to 9st 4.lbs. Re: Aberdeen 16th November
It's not about the experience, it's time to make a serious move towards a title fight, rather than talking him up and complaining people won't take the fight on short notice. That doesn't mean 50-50 fights, just fights that will move him towards title shots. A fighter with a record 9-19-3 is a journeyman, that can't be argued, not losing every round doesn't change that and plenty of journeymen have won area titles. Pudisov hasn't boxed for a year, he's the away fighter, he may well look to give a good account of himself, but he's in there to lose, if he wins, he doesn't get fights in the future because he's seen as high risk, low reward.daviddee wrote:Point is fighting all of those everyone would still be expecting him to win!! Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Not a 50-50 fight and nobody can say it is but its a fight and its sad to say but to have a fight confirmed on 2 weeks notice is a stepping stone. As for people thinking there in the know regarding how easy it is to get a 50-50 fight dont talk such nonsense. chris male has been in 2 50-50 fights in his career 1 in which he won and other he was beat and hes now entering his 3rd. 2 of these fights were also called for by the board so in no way can you say how easy these fights are to make. Ronnie has fought 3 50-50 fights on about 3 days notice and a week notice off his own back so do you really think hes gonna avoid anyone. Maley you said earlier that Ronnie needs to prove himself to fight the winner of your cousin and troy james? who can that be? what level? Realistically thats Ronnies level and who he needs to fight as everywhere else in rankings for example Cacace etc low risk , low rewards fight wont happen.
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
I don't think anyone expects 50-50 fights, but Podusovs is a waste of time, beating him proves nothing. Male-James is a British title eliminator, Ronnie hasn't proved he deserves one yet, beat a decent domestic opponent and he's in with a shout for one and you can bang on about that being his level, he hasn't proved it.JamieM wrote:Not a 50-50 fight and nobody can say it is but its a fight and its sad to say but to have a fight confirmed on 2 weeks notice is a stepping stone. Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Troy and chris was purprosed and agreed then was accepted by the board. Why can't ronnie's manager find an agreement like that. Also his fight with josh was put forward by the board after 3 other fighters all unbeaten said no to a english title fight. Where he also agreed to fight away from home against all 3 He just wanted to fight for the title.
Hooper kays munroe townsend troy chris (skyes v smith was made for a final eliminator) all 50-50 where the fighters had notice were made so the fights r out their. Surely tg new ronnie was on this show weeks ago
Expe last post was bang on the money for me.

Josh Warrington beat Chris Male at featherweight? Ronnie drew with Ryan Walsh (really a win) who fights for the british at that weight and is above Warrington in rankings but Male and James is more worthy than Ronnie ha? God knows how that works out myself. So who does Ronnie fight then? If he doesnt fight them then you tell me what level? 3 people knocked back warrington yet your saying 50-50 fights can be made? contradiction at its highest level. I wont deny podusovs isnt the answer but what is? I really dont have much time for TG but cant say its him as Ronnie has said to him hell fight any one and doesnt need protected when he signed contract and he agreed.

Pudosov's has had to take fights at higher weights than he would like and also at short noticed. This will be a really good bout and will keep Ronnie busy whilst waiting for other things to happen. It must be better getting fights, earning money instead of sitting back waiting for others to offer you a fight for a title.
What good is having 'a stage of your career' as you put it if you don't keep busy with fights until you get the call you have been waiting for?
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
You just said it yourself, drew, not won, drew, go on all you want about him deserving the decision, it was a draw, end of. I don't know where your getting your rankings from, because there aren't any and a draw doesn't get you anything. I've named potential opponents in this thread, O'Hara for the Celtic title, Sean Hughes is available. You don't know why they knocked Warrington back, it may have been money, but Chris wasn't bothered and took the fight anyway, I'm sure Maley knows more, but 50-50 fights can be made as long as the terms are right, for that kind of risk there needs to be a suitable reward. Obviously Gilmour agreed, he wanted Ronnie to sign the contract, what's then stopping him matching Ronnie carefully and bullshitting him about offers being made and turned down?JamieM wrote:Josh Warrington beat Chris Male at featherweight? Anderson and Keates were at 9st 4lbs and he lost both and against Anderson he was the home fighter. What if other things don't happen, the call never comes? Ronnie chris troy all the same level imo. The winer of troy and chris will be more worthy than ronnie yes. Has ronnie beat any1 at their level no. He drew with walsh who moved up from super ban who fought for the british purely because others avoided the fight and he put in name inthe mix on twitter . Fair point about the 3 lads but that was division below the fights r being made at sf.

I really don't think you have seen Pudosovs in action, he is a capable boxer who can mix it. It doesn't help he is foreign and has to take fights for the money and at late notice. I have seen him fight and also up close in trhe gym and he is very game and even giving away a good bit of weight in sparring with my brother Lee he never stopped trying. People look at records on boxrec and take them as gospel, same as the well they got beat from this kid or that kid. Different fighters different styles make different fights, this match will be a good one and Ronnie will know he is in a fight if he isn't 100% focussed.expe wrote:I don't think anyone expects 50-50 fights, but Podusovs is a waste of time, beating him proves nothing. Like I mentioned in an earlier post I'm sure Ronnie would rather be kept busy and earning money until his manager gets him a shot at a title, and I'm sure Tommy will get him the shot. When it comes Ronnie will have to be ready to take his chance with both hands and by keeping busy it will only help him when it does.

Their were problems with joe murray due to his manager issues fight never happened. Chris was gutted. not going to name the other 2 who avoided chris but one changed an agreed date cause he cudnt sell tickets and chris team had a contract and date. The other asked for stupid money and I know his avoided other fights recently.
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
Maley i agree regarding the winner of troy and male makes it more credible but who has chris beat to deserve and eliminator . I dont even think if he beats troy that ronnie has to prove anything to fight either of them. I really wish the best for both of them but both have stepped up level and been beat at that level? I dont wanna bad mouth them as end of day they have the chance but 50-50 fights are not being refused by tommy and expe if you are in the know regarding these guys or invilved with them I dont know but let tommy gilmour know as he doesnt use this and the fights will be made im sure:) saves him alot of headache if he has an opponent lined up as Ronnie forever head nipping him . Fighting away is not a reason either. Ronnie will travel for the fights. When you have fought in world title fights in kickboxing in new york madrid portugal, denmark etc then a little journey to England is enjoyable:)
Re: Aberdeen 16th November
His built a decent record beat an unbeaten fighter ( with one hand) lost once to an unbeaten kid and took every fight the board hav made. So that's favourable with the board. They see chris and troy as an even fight with the winner pushing right up the rankings the winner wudnt need to fight ronnie unless he won a eliminator and a final was made by the board. Does ronnie deserve an eliminator. His best win is curren wen he stepped up he hasn't won.JamieM wrote:Maley i agree regarding the winner of troy and male makes it more credible but who has chris beat to deserve and eliminator . Re: Aberdeen 16th November
It's not the ability that matters, it's that he moves Ronnie no closer to a title fight, yes he needs to win, but it gets him a W, a payday and little else. He's relying on others for the shot, if they don't want the fight, he'll have to force himself into a mandatory position, which takes time, so why not start that route now as a contingency if the call doesn't come?David McAllister wrote:I really don't think you have seen Pudosovs in action, he is a capable boxer who can mix it. Same as male best win is against curran also. Rogowski is ronnies best win. Ronnie has fought 4 people 4 people with a positive record. Male 2 with a defeat. Realistically ronnie was brought down on days notice to lose and gt a draw . He can be happy with that although hard done by. These guys have their chance but people in glass houses shouldn't through stones as both James and male have continually fought they kind of opponents including males last fight:)
