The head to head where Froch told him he was going to destroy him did have George looking a little worried. That was before he then began his campaign to hype the fight/get under Froch's skin.

Mind you, George sported that same fearful look when Kenny Anderson gave him some stick at their weigh in and he got the win.

Its boring and the fight needs to hurry up and get here mainly so ringside might start talking about something else and this place restores a bit of sanity ( until the 'Haye looks rattled, Fury is gonna kill him' talk starts up again  )

You could easily end up with egg on your face!!

There's a massive chance groves could be annihilated.its a very hard fight for him at this stage of his career

My take on the fight is that it will be close and it will go into the later stages possibly with Groves in front but Froch will get to him between 8 and 12. I think quite a few on here feel the same way. It will definietly be a competitive fight I think unless Groves's chin really is that bad that he get's put away early.

It was a 3 fight deal, this is his 4th fight, or 3rd if the fight in Germany doesn't count. Whatever happens, after this his deals up and I don't think he intends to resign. I'd expect to see Groves out again on the Haye-Fury undercard.
Aah thanks Expe. So Eddie gave Geairge a couple of gimmes to look good in front of the Sky audience all geared toward the Froch PPV concluding exactly when the final bell tolls. It would be quite amusing if his plan went arse about tit.

The plan was definitely to match Froch and Groves, in the belief that Froch would come out victorious and if Groves chose to leave, he chose to leave. The problem for Hearn is that if Groves wins, he isn't tied down in any way and can go where he wants, which seems to have been Groves plan all along. Unusually, Warren didn't contest him leaving and said it was amicable, Groves and Booth saying they wanted to go in a different direction, that being a fight with Froch. If Groves wins, Booth will have outthought everyone again, he's been quiet the last couple of months, no ones heard from him and he's deleted his twitter account. I get the feeling he's going to turn up in the corner on the night, in an attempt to throw Froch off, if Groves goes onto win, he's won a world title, got a big payday while beating the best fighter in the country, leading to a potential rematch with DeGale, while being free of any promotional obligations.

I'm going to get mullered for this. But before I start I'm not saying its the same scale but just the same area.

To me this smacks of Haye Harrison.

Groves has talked himself into the fight from the start. 2 hours after Froch nailed Bute if you would have mentioned Groves' name half of us would have just laughed it off and the rest would have said not for a good few years.

A few cheeky comments from Groves before Kessler II and then a fair amount of absolute rubbish out of his mouth since then and he has talked himself into contention.

There were so many people who couldnt believe Audley had got the fight they believed his madness and just thought there's got to be some truth behind it. And then what happened, Haye just went to sad blokes laid his mortgage on round three and laughed off into the Miami sunshine. Groves knows this as much as anyone cos he outed the whole thing on live tv on the night.

It wont be easy for Froch, Groves will bring more than Mack, but lets be honest if you put Groves in with Mack a few might fancy him to lose.

I think Froch is leading Groves down the path here, not a chance that he doesn't take this as lightly as he is making out. He is letting Groves give himself a chance.

Say what you want about Froch but he prepares very well for a fight and he wont be taking this lightly, I think Groves will be getting stopped and I dont think it will be a shock for him, he already has an idea it might happen.

Yes.

Carl Froch has fought Jermain Taylor and Andre Ward in the USA

Has had 2 epic battles with Mikkel Kessler.

Has destroyed Lucian Bute

He's clearly rattled by George Groves

He may have imagined he'd get more 'respect' from Groves with him knowing his place etc; Froch seems to hold himself in even higher esteem than boxing fans do, that an opponent shows little regard may upset his equilibrium. Groves is going about his business and Froch is, Carl can't expect George to ask for his autograph and kiss his arse can he?

Heres the link to the face off, George looks rattled to me, froch has 100% self belief in this fight. Groves craps himself then starts to mouth off afterwards but froch already saw he intimidated him. He has the psychological edge by a mile.

I though Froch said a planned line and then turned away, 'your breath stinks' isn't much better than 'you're ugly' like DeGale said over and over. Froch looks taller though it may be the camera angle; Groves looks ok up close though didn't impose himself verbally, he responded to what Froch said rather than make a loud bold statement. I have to say I prefer Groves to Froch though I can't put my finger on it.

this is a point people over look when they start saying this guy fought at a better level than that guy.

just because someone hasn't fought at a certain level yet, doesn't mean he isn't capable of doing so.

with froch, we know his limitations, we know what level he is at and what level he is not (ie ward)

grove still hasn't reached his peak,
although i do admit to thinking his peak isn't at froch's level, but i can't say that for certain

Froch defo wound up by Groves. Reminds me of the job Leonard did on Hagler on the build up to their fight; completely messed with his Hagler's mental approach to a fight and Hagler subsequently lost the first four rounds trying to prove himself the better orthodox fighter. Difference is Leonard was used to being in the big fight whereas Groves is a novice in that area - still very interesting!

I do love this perception that somehow Froch is a shit boxer who can easily be outboxed. Froch was a really good amateur as well people seem to forget that. He has the skills up to a certain level and has only struggled against really slick guys like Taylor, Ward and Dirrell.

I don't put Groves at the level of any of them, especially in terms of slickness, Froch is not gona find it too hard to find Groves - after a few rounds of spoiling tactics he will have to engage at some point and isn't slick enough to avoid Carl's bombs like those guys mentioned above. The way Kenny Anderson had Groves going just does not bode well for him in this fight.

I thought Groves looked taller at the face off. When they did the little bit with Nelson though Groves looked like he had shrunk.

It is a strange one. Nobody, not even Ward, has had an easy night against Froch.

Yep, you've got Groves dissing Froch in those 3 fights but:

Taylor - Froch was a few rounds behind but crucially came on strong in the last few rounds and bagged the KO.

Dirrell - Awful fight, Dirrell doing his best impression of roadrunner in a world title fight, tried to win with 3 punches a round and for me just got outworked in a fight with very few real connecting punches. Crucial thing for me is, it certainly wasn't a boxing lesson for Carl, it was just the other guy didn't actually want to fight so it was a tough watch for everyone.

Ward - Ward probably won by 4 rounds, one of the recognised P4P best fighters in the world at the moment who has coasted to wins against other fighters still had a tricky night with Carl who landed some of his big shots but Ward proved he had a good chin and could grit it out with a warrior like Froch, something Groves has yet to prove.

Ward had an easy night bar the last few rounds.

And that was due to fatigue from Ward.

Froch is no calzaghe. GG Wins.
Your becoming deluded!

Froch is a three time world champion & has competed top level! Calzaghe was padded out lets not forget.
Groves has plenty of ability & can cause a few problems. But to suggest that he's going to win easy is a joke. If groves does pull it off he will be pipping froch

Froch in 6. Groves will look good, get caught and Carl will smell blood and force a mid fight stoppage. will be entertaining though, I can't wait.

I love both these fighters. Will be a good lesson for groves despite the loss.

Happy to be wrong here

Groves isn't going to win easily but Froch would have struggled to win a round against Calzaghe.

Groves has a date in front of the BBBoC next week as Booth is chasing his managers fee for the Froch fight.

Carl is training like a beast. He's nasty and irritable - it's not 6 rounds its 3 rounds max.

It's not a case of GG getting under anyone's skin - he's the one putting a front on, not Carl.

He's getting banjo'd.

Even Mack lasted 3 rounds, Groves is a class above him and is capable of taking Froch deep into the fight.

I'm pleased we are now talking common sense about how long George can survive being blown away, than actually winning this.

Wow, 6 pages cos froch had a bit of make up in his eyes. The word 'rattled' is overused soooo much nowadays.

Groves seems to have completely changed in the last few years. I thought he was a sound lad but can't stand him now, he acts worse that degale.
