FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Just watched the ringside show.
having read this thread before hand, i thought groves sounded like he embarrased himself
but watching the show this morning, i thought he handled himself well in the first half "debate" and froch was clearly rattled bigtime.
and building up to the end of the show, i genuinely thought froch was going to breakdown. it actually looked like froch was about to cry before groves made that statement. i thought it was ridiculous when i read it on here. but having watched the show and the build up to groves saying it, i can't fault him, froch was upset.
i would be very surprized if froch is able to stay focused in the fight
that may result in him getting angry and just battering groves,
but groves may just have played a blinder here, he might just have got inside froches head and thrown him off. with the right game plan and a bit of windup tactics in the ring, froch might lose his cool and make the mistakes that george needs him to make.

Are you being serious???!!
Froch was just swallowing hard to keep his cool, and bite his tongue.

the fact that he asked if that part was "being kept in" the final edit of the program i think backs up that he was rattled

It shows that he is a different person away from the final edit - a normal person with insecurities and frailties, he is worried about this bout, it is high risk and low reward; Froch is an intelligent man but is at a loss for words.

like a fornicating baby!
no, i don't honestly think froch was going to cry, but it did look that way before george even said it.
it probably wasn't tears beghind those glased eyes, it was more likely an uncontrollable rage that froch had to keep under wraps to maintain the professional persona
but the point is, froch couldn't handle it in there and was really struggling to deal with the situation
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Jesus Christ I've read it all now...
I wanted to stay neutral in this fight but after reading some of the codswallop on here I just want Froch to break Groves down and move on.

Yes. Froch looked uncomfortable having to deal with Grove's articulate button-pushing. But it was just interesting rather that insightful as far as I'm concerned. People jumping on a Groves bandwagon because of this are showing themselves up.palooka wrote:Did you watch it Kilburn?Kilburn wrote:Jesus Christ I've read it all now...

I'd be amazed if Froch were not happy as a pig in shite come the morning of this fight. He just wants to get rid of this guy.

Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Ive just got round to watching it although ive been reading all the comments here
IMO Froch was very uncomfortable sitting there and Groves definitely got under his skin but that wont have no bearing on the fight whatsoever,Carl,s experienced enough to not let that consume him come fight night,if Groves does happen to win it will be nothing to do with these mind games but its good TV
Carls problem is he thinks he,s more calm and articulated than he is and he kinda just says the same stuff leading up to every fight so when George was putting him on the spot he didnt want to let his guard down and bite although every cell in his body was urging him to so he looked as if he was squirming more than anything when in his own head he was wanting to look relaxed but was caught between emotions
Groves def looks like he,s got fire in his eyes coming into this one,ive never seen him so angry even with DeGale, could prove to be his undoing
Froch win on points,close

don't think anyone jumped on the groves bandwagon because of that interview. many people already though groves could or would beat froch.Kilburn wrote:Yes. i was not one of those people and i still think froch is too good for him.
but froch was noticably wound up, as bad as i've seen a fighter in an interview. you could see it in his eyes, he didn't want to be there
groves has got inside his head, of that there is little doubt. how froch will react to that is a different thing.
but to think a fighter could never make a mistake or abandon his game plan through anger/frustration/passion is naive. froch is frustrated, angry and probably upset at what he sees as a cheeky upstart trying to make a fool of him, if he allows those emotions to get the better of him in the ring, as he clearly did in the ringside studio, and makes mistakes or simply drops the gameplan and goes after GG, there is no doubt groves is an intellegent boxer and one with the power to make you pay for those mistakes.
or it's possible, groves taunts will make froch angry and that anger will translate into a painful beating for GG
but either way, mindgames can and have worked in the past, thats why boxers still use them. not everyone can be dragged into mindgames, but froch clearly isn't one of those people as he was clearly effected on ringside
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
I think if froch did have any fraleties, I think they would of been ironed out from defeating & facing his calibre of opposition.
I think fans overbuy into the psychology at times because once the bell goes it all goes out the window.
I just see groves running from the first bell & I'm expecting booth to cringe stakingly be there aswell

Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Bottom line is Ward is the only man to beat Froch convincingly and Groves is nowhere near that level. It seems unlikely Groves is capable of doing what Ward did, and that's what he needs to do to win. The guys backing Groves with such conviction must think he is a real special talent, because to go and do to Froch what Ward did when the kid hasn't even fought at world level yet is going to be something really special....
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
This. Amazes me how much codswallop psychology is being spouted these days with people extrapolating out from incidents like this what will happen in the fight despite there being so littler evidence that there's a direct linek. Go back and look at the posts around the Mayweather Alvarez weigh-in and the people saying Floyd looked nervous and uncertain if you want a prime example.handsofstone wrote: IMO Froch was very uncomfortable sitting there and Groves definitely got under his skin but that wont have no bearing on the fight whatsoever

Exactly. This Froch is gonna cry/scared non-sense. I'm pretty sure after warring Pascal, Ward, Kessler twice, Taylor, Abraham etc; when he steps in to the ring he won't be scaredDeserter wrote:This. Wow, has Groves turned into a well-schooled, tough-chinned slickster with a strong defence, overnight, without me realising?Groove Armada wrote:

In that case, we might actually have a contest on our hands here!
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
With Adam Booth in his corner it still took him just as long to dispatch Noe Gonzalez as Froch did to KO a marquee fighter in Lucian Bute.Groove Armada wrote:
No, but he can follow a game plan and punch.
And that was apparently Groves setting out to "make a statement".
I wonder what plan Paddy Fitzpatrick has? it sounded on Ringside that George basically didn't have one and rolled out the stock answer of "I have lots of plans to beat Carl".
Maybe I'm mistaken but I sense Groves is taking charge of his own plans for this fight and without wanting to do Paddy a disservice here (as I'm sure he is a capable fellow) , but he will simply hold the spit bucket.
George is facing a very tough and vastly experienced fighter in Froch with the Olympic Team GB director in his corner !

Im pretty sure he said "Please keep this in the final cut" probably so after the fight when he smashed GG he can go back to it lol

Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
I think Groves has the potential to execute a game plan which causes Froch problems. Groves can box and has growing confidence in his power and strength. Froch tends to start slowly as he gets the measure of distance. Groves could be up after 4 - he'll start better - in may ways the middle rounds are key, if Groves can stay at distance Froch will have to go headhunting later on which only further plays into Groves hands.
Froch has to either be on parity early or impose himself in the middle rounds to avoid chasing George around the ring late in the fight.
I'm sticking with Froch but I believe Groves could cause him problems but for all the talk of Dirrell, Taylor outboxing Carl..... Kenny Anderson had Groves on queer street. If Froch gets him he'll finish the job.
Froch SD or late retirement for Groves.

Those guys would of outboxed Groves aswell! The difference being that Groves's chin wouldnt of stood up to the punishment that Froch had to endure, especially in the Taylor fight.DavidPayne wrote:I think Groves has the potential to execute a game plan which causes Froch problems. Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
Didn't look like Froch was anywhere near getting upset, he was just embarassed at Groves constantly butting in like a hyperactive schoolchild. Froch wasn't lost for words, he was just talking calmly and shutting up whenever Groves butted in, pausing then continuing calmly.
To be honest it all looks a little staged, maybe SKY's PPV estimation was in need of a subscriber injection.
Groves won't back up his claim of trying to go out for the KO. More likely he will start by countering and outboxing Froch before getting closed down and stopped IMO.

I hadn't twigged this was a Box Office duck do. Cripes. Not quite Khan v McCloskey but its that end of the market.
I once said Clifford Etienne would outlast Mike Tyson so ignore me anyway.

You really think GG's style is more wrong for Froch than Dirrell? Froch has fought a myriad of styles and the only time he has been noticeably out of his depth was when he fought Ward, and that was more about a talent gap than anything else. Groves is no Ward and Froch isn't showing any significant sign's of aging, he lives a clean life and looks as good as ever.
Like I have said since this fight was announced Groves is going to fight the most negative fight of his career and hope that Froch chokes..... The problem is that even if Groves doesn't get caught on the ropes and KO'd hard he is actually going to have to take 7 rounds off Froch on the back foot. I'm not even sure Groves can outbox Froch.
Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
I found this fight pretty interesting when weighing up Groves vs Froch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDPw_DVQX6I ..... Groves scored a great knockout but I thought he had a lot of trouble with Sierra's long jab. Something Froch possesses himself and whilst Froch isnt the fastest fighter in the world, he's quicker than Sierra is.

Re: FROCH IS RATTLED/ANNOYED/FRUSTRATED.
I think Froch will catch him fairly early. I believe Carl has learned his lesson since the loss to Kessler and start aggressively, and keep his foot on the gas. He tried against Ward, but in that instance, he was in against a guy who was just better in pretty much every department. I expect Froch to get to Groves within the first half, and once he hurts him, he will keep his foot on the gas until he gets the stoppage.DavidPayne wrote:I think Groves has the potential to execute a game plan which causes Froch problems.
