josh warrington

Post by maley1984 »

Josh warrington unbeaten english champ and new commonwealth featherweight champ 16-0. Holds 2 wins over unbeaten fighters (male and samir) as the away fighter.

Thought he boxed to a good plan last night picked his shots and upped the pace at the time samir started to blow fantastic performance. Was shocked the bookies had him at 9-2 to win. Was a good 50-50 fight fair play to both lads.

Thoughts ....

Gutsy lad who stuck with it, despite being seemingly out-gunned for spells.

Good luck to him I say - unbeaten and now has a title to wear.

Yeah i was impressed with Warrington last night,i hadnt seen much of him before last night but he done well to ride Mouneimne,s early storm of switch hitting and by the halfway stage i quite fancied the stoppage as Samir was taking a lot of clean punches in 4,s and 5,s

Im happy for Josh to get his first TKO in his first major title fight, seems like a nice guy and i look forward to seeing him again

On another issue, whats the story with the British Featherweight title,i assume Lee Selby vacated that also?

Just thought i,d add that im not a big fan of title fights being pushed down the bill for lesser fights,Josh Warrington v Samir Mouneimne should have been main event IMO

Having watched both lads come through the amateurs and aspiring pros i thought it might be Josh who would have trouble holding Samir off down the stretch not vice-versa. Wonder if Warrington is gonna be one of those lads who keep stepping up as they rise through the ranks ala Clinton Woods?

Truly Excellent performance again by josh in his opponents backyard.
Nice to see him get some tv exposure at last , he's a real credit to the sport.
Made up for the young lad and his dad in the corner.

Selby wouldn't vacate the British because he said he wouldn't do samir any favours after he'd been calling lee out then pulled out at purse bids,Well done to Josh and Shaun (dad) it was only five week since he defended his English title .

Been a fan of Josh's work rate and style for a while.
Nice for him to earn a stoppage maybe he is developing more power.
Well done Josh :salut:
