One cannot think of any Australian who has ever held the Commonwealth/Empire Heavy-weight title, although way back on 11th April 1910 and 18th January 1911, Bill Lang fought for the belt but lost both times.
After a century, with a bit of luck, Big Daddy might get his hand raised.
Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne vs Richard "Inferno" Towers
Re: Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne vs Richard "Inferno" Towers
to be fair, it doesn't really have much prestige anymore. otherwise we'd be fighting for it more often. fighters can't be frigged going to the uk for it now. its easier to fight for the Asian/pacific titles as there is more chance they can fight at home for it, and the rankings can be good from it.
still should be proud to fight for it though, yeah. he'll smash price too.

Unfortunately, Aussies, like Canucks, had to travel to UK to fight some Brit for the Empire title, so it really wasn't worth the trip with everything against them.

C'wealth title still has decent purse attached to it. However, this bout was final eliminator. If Big Daddy is eventually the champ, he'll score a decent rating in WBC proper.
Never forget C'wealth Boxing Council is one of WBC's mothers, as is OPBF

Well we learn something new everyday, Thanks for the info AntonS.
If Browne did win it surely there would be some TV/Paper press about it being the first Aus H/W to do so. It would have to get him more noticed then Leapia and Co right?.
