After watching his spectacular KO over: Pacman after 3 argumental fights, it sealed his entry. I never did like Marquez and I never thought of him as a great fighter, but I got to give where CREDIT is DUE. He deserves to be in the top 100. At position number 77 to be exact. Who in this forum would rank him higher?
And at what weight class should he be included in the top 20?:
It was earlier today Elmer. Now I see he's back outside your top 5.

It's been a tough day for Marquez. That's a good placement, I'd probably have him a bit higher. I could see him top 20 at 130, his short time there offered a lot of production. Featherweight is loaded, but he could make that too.

1. Ruben Olivares
2. Salvador Sanchez
3. Julio C. Chavez
4. Baby Arizmendi
5. Vicente Saldivar
6. Carlos Zarate
7. Miguel Canto
8. Erik Morales
9. Marco Antonio Barrera
10. Juan Manuel Marquez
That's a much better list. Zarate and Canto would be behind the 3 modern guys for me. Chavez and Saldivar might too.

i believe that the lower you get in all time rankings,
the almost exponentially more variability sets in. for
the no1 spot there might be five candidates, for no10
there will be already 15 and so on. at around 100 you
probably are talking about a thousand and the only
reason why we still think we can make these lists is
because we do not really remember the no20 fighter
of 1935. i believe these lists become pretty useless
below 3o, or maybe 5o.

for JMM, i think he had manny's number in all fights,
but only managed once to win decisively. his loss vs
floyd seems telling.

i think many people who praised him have done that
partially out of reflex against the media and pundit
darling manny.

great fighter, not all time great.
