David Price - Who is his promoter now?

Post by TopGun »

Sorry if this is common knowledge but my Mrs asked me last night and thought it was a good question as nobody (from what I have read) has mentioned this, just his change of trainer.

He could do worse than have a year at British/Commonwealth level providing it means 5 fights next year. He needs activity and confidence next year.

Price's defeats were horrible , but he is a big classy lump and I'm a fan of the man and I'm willing him on.

He's still got the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles too.

I just can't shake off the ease at which he has tasted canvas and the questions surrounding his stamina in his last fight. But he has a jab like a lump hammer and a right hand that would give anyone problems.

Amen, loss to the Italian in 2008 left hints.

Since Price beat Tom Dallas in a round he only fought something like 8 rounds of boxing in 2012 before taking on Tony Thompson. Never enough and took too much of a step up in class too soon. Price needs to go back to fighting durable but limited opponents as he never got any rounds under his belt at all.

I wouldn't like him to vacate the british and commonwealth titles but if he fough Lucas Browne I think Browne stops him. Lucas Brown would be all wrong for David Price in the next year.

Yeah you could be right mate - a 30 year old bloke who has been a full-time boxer for over 10 years - they should have continued to feed him opponents for at least the next 5 years .....

Price is a big lump but unfortunately he does not have any confidence in his own chin. As soon as he fights somebody who comes to win then Price will get beat again.

Tyson Fury must be gutted he didn't wipe him out and earn some good money - Price is now more likely to fight Hughie Fury and as mad as it may seem, Hughie is confident and up for a fight and at the moment I would expect him to beat Price.

It is going to be interesting, unless Price is willing to fight for much smaller purses there is no way any promoter is going to bankroll him for the next 2 or 3 years to re-build his confidence. He might get 1 or 2 warm up fights but then he will have to go in against a live opponent.

I think Price is taking a calculated risk in agreeing to facing Browne, if the rumor is true.

However, when he lost to Thompson the second time, I did say it would be an excellent opprotunity for Price if he went on a Commonwealth tour of sorts, facing an odd assortment of contenders around the world to help rebuild his image. He has the potential to be a great Commonwealth champion, but considering his stamina issues, lack of defense, and overall weak chin--- it's gonna be a major problem if he faces Browne, who has demonstrated he has a tough chin, good stamina and can use the jab and lateral movement.

Lucas Browne is no mug.

I'd peg it at 50/50 right now, on account of their recent success / confidence.

Price hits way harder, but his ability to take a shot evens up the odds for any adversary that has a bit of a dig on them too.

Browne has been down himself, but has shown his metal to get back up and win by stoppage.

It's a fan-friendly fight with a lot of unknowns.

I like both fighters, both seem top fellas.

The best thing Price should do would be to sign with allegedly. I think he has the experience to get him back on track. I still rate Price highly. Eddie would not bring out the best in david and already put his cash into Joshua.

He turns 31 soon, he can't be faffing around fighting domestic rubbish after he did exactly that for the first 3 years of his career and predictably came up short in his first fight against a boxer with genuine nous.

31 in heavyweight terms is still pretty young though.

I think he would have been better off with warren but with hayemaker being with sky its only logical he would be where booth is.

If I was Price I would try and keep a stranglehold on the British title. There will always be fights there for him of varying quality and Price is a decent seller and exciting at his devastating best. I would love to see more of him. He is an exciting heavyweight win or lose.

Why is it so inconceivable to you that Price knocks out a clubfighter? Is it because you're Australian?
