Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Its still Froch for me,Groves is a big puncher but will he still be stopping fighters so often when he,s at Carl,s level? I dont think so
Carl,s KO,s have dwindled since he,s been at World Championship level which is fairly predictable really and i would assume that George will be hearing final bell more frequently also

Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
In answer to the poll, i think george hits harder. In terms of who wins this fight it's more a question of who can take the others punches better because i think they're both going to land at some point. Hope I'm wrong but I think froch will stand up to George's best shots and stop him late. I'm going to this and I'm excited but nervous already

This is where I'm at too.handsofstone wrote:Its still Froch for me,Groves is a big puncher but will he still be stopping fighters so often when he,s at Carl,s level? I dont think so

You have somebody who has stopped people at world level and somebody who hasn't.
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
I'd say they are pretty even I pressed gg because I thought it was golovkin
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Id go with Groves aswell.
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
So Froch has stopped people at world level then.Groove Armada wrote:Has Froch stopped anyone at world level who hasn't been stopped before? And we all know Bute was saved a KO defeat by his mate the REF in a previous fight against a fringe contender in Andrade.
Taylor, fragile and we all know it..stopped at Middle and SM.
Mack..Stopped most likely on his way to the the dry cleaners.
Anyone else?
Who has Groves stopped? Reel off his murderers row for me.

Ha me too ! GGG is número uno for me - as Stevens will find out tonight.hurlock wrote:I'd say they are pretty even I pressed gg because I thought it was golovkin
But Groves is a World class hitter too, one punch is harder than Carl for my money, Froch is massively heavy handed tho

Can any comparison of power be took from their respective fights against Adamu?

But he hasn't stopped those guys.Groove Armada wrote:I am quite sure GG would stop those guys. GG had Glen Johnson in more trouble that anyne snce Hopkins, imo.DMA1987 wrote:

Fonfara had Johnson closer to being gone in round 12 of their fight.Groove Armada wrote:I am quite sure GG would stop those guys. GG had Glen Johnson in more trouble that anyne snce Hopkins, imo.DMA1987 wrote:

Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Has anyone ever stopped Macklin the way GG did... ajose said GG hits like a heavy weight....
this new kiddy lomanchenko looks to be of the same mould ...what the hell do they feed them.. actually who hit the hardest before GG came along? probably lemeuix (sod knows how to spell that) he its pretty hard only if they are mostly journeyman and tom cans

Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Froch looks stiff and crude at times and yet fluid at others. His one punch that dropped McGee (not Eamon, the other one!) was a good example, because Brian Mcgee is a good fighter.

They are talking about George Groves mate, though to be honest the thread would make more sense if it was Golovkin.

V. Good!
When Groves hits Froch nothing much will happen.
When Froch hits Groves something will happen. I don't think Groves can run for 12 rounds. He's been wobbled a couple of times by fighters such as Anderson & Smith. Late Froch stoppage for me.

Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
GG his record proves it
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Oh God I thought it was Golovkin too, I actually think it's pretty even.
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Yeah would be easier if people took the extra couple of seconds to actually type out names! Especially ones as simple as George Groves!DMA1987 wrote:ajwesty13 wrote:Has anyone ever stopped Macklin the way GG did... ajose said GG hits like a heavy weight....

Groves seems to have more one punch knockout power but this hasn't been tested at the highest level. Froch has a stiff jab and very heavy hands when he charges forward. He could catch Groves, stun him and finish the job. Not sure if Groves could stop Froch unless he throws a perfect punch.
Also I've noticed a few posters on here just down playing everything Froch has done. I understand not everyone likes him but he fights the best and has only ever been outclassed by Ward who is widely regarded P4P no.2. He held the Lonsdale belt outright (A great achievement in most people's eyes), he's 3 time world champion in a very tough division, he's fought overseas a reasonable amount (6 times at 4-2) and has given us some great, exciting fights (Kessler 1 & 2, Bute, Taylor, Abraham). Surely we should be happy to have such a British fighter in our era???
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER?
Listening to some on here you would think GG was a killer. That's the only reason, nothing really to do with the thread itself, more its contents.Groove Armada wrote:More sense? How? How more relevant can a poll be? This is between 2 fighters meeting in the next few weeks.
Re: BIGGER 1 PUNCH HITTER? GEORGE GROVES OR FROCH
To use a horrible cliche, this fight is about levels.
Yes, Groves can hit. But Froch has been hit flush by bigger punchers than George Groves numerous times. Kessler, Pascal and Glen Johnson for example and he's come through each time. Say what you like about Froch, but he can take a real dig. Even if Groves catches him cleanly, is it going to to be harder for him to take than any of the above? I doubt it.
Groves meanwhile was down and in big trouble against a tough, but domestic level fighter in Kenny Anderson. He's also been flattened in sparring by Froch with big gloves and a head guard on.
It's not about who hits harder in this case, but who is able to stand up to the power of the man in the opposite corner. Froch may not have the one punch power that Groves has, but that one punch power has only been against far inferior fighters than Froch.
History suggest Froch handles Groves power, but there are big question marks over Groves ability to withstand Froch's sustained aggression.
Froch ko 7-9.
