To be fair though some of the losses on Karass's record are to better guys than Jones has lost to. Also Karass beat Jones.palooka wrote:Soto Karass did well last night and has 9 defeats, he's been matched hard and doesn't turn fights down.expe wrote:Jones is bang average, he has 10 defeats for a reason.TJ77 wrote:Gavin is unproven too no?
N'dou, Hatton, Jones, in fact anyone Kell's fought in the last 3 years are all more proven fighters than Gavin or Denton.
I rate Funtime he could really do something at World level one day.IMO
Kell got an injury that robbed him of this chance.
Believe it or don't that's your call to make he is a decent kid who has had poo luck .
Yes he has been flavour of the month and had loads of exposure, plaudits and no one is more frustrated at the lack of fruit from all that as Kell.
Boxing people proper knowledgeable people rate him and have stuck with him would they do that if he was tossing it off or bottling it they would know long before you or I and would expose it.
Like they did when Frankie was not living the life he got exposed for his own good sorted his life out and is looking good again but people wouldn't waste their time watching him waste his obvious talent.
Would it be any different for any other fighter I hope not its a tough enough game.
You wouldn't choose a boxing career go through blood sweat and tears literally year on year beat everyone you had too on your way to the top and bottle it.
He was robbed by injury and yes the chasing pack are closing and yes his time is ticking that's life but it's not his doing he is in this position.
Boxers don't scare easily especially one's with Kells ability and the fact is he loves it fighting the limelight the lot he didn't throw it away it was just pulled a bit further out of reach.
You asked why people jump to his defence its because life can be shite but if you keep trying when everyone's slagging you and the right minded people see that they will stick with you and rightly so IMO.

You were being fair there columbo but missed the point a little bit, my point was that some very good fighters can have quite a few losses, especially if they are thrown in and don't have a strong promoter to give them advantage; Carson Jones is much better than average even with his defeats, though I'd like to see him drop a level and win well without taking hard flush shots like last time out; (Soto Karass, as well; he won well but he takes heavy punches just about every fight).

Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
Matchroom ballsed up by not going to purse bids when he was mandatory for Alexander last year, if they had Alexander would've vacated rather than coming to the UK and Brook would probably be a defence or two up as IBF Champ by now,

Kell's had a bummer of a year.
Let's hope next year he has better luck and gets a champion in the ring.

brooks career would have been less boring if he had stayed amateur for an olympics that he didnt go to ........and then concentrate on his commonwealth title at the age of 28.....

It would also have been a lot better if he could stop eating, pulling out of major opportunities and fighting in bogs. Having real wars with journeymen can't have helped, either.los2 wrote:brooks career would have been less boring if he had stayed amateur for an olympics that he didnt go to ........and then concentrate on his commonwealth title at the age of 28.....
