James Tony in all the interviews I've seen has never had a good word to say about anyone. Comes across as a right knob.

Just seen it, Toney sounds like a 70 year old with dimensia... it's bad. Why does Nelson keep cpmparing himself to Toney "we were the two guys in the division"... no

It's bad to see one of the best defensive fighters of the last 25 years slurring like that. Guess it shows what fighting too long and too many gym wars can do to a fighter.

Such is their delivery to their audience that I often sit watching Smith and Nelson feeling they're better suited to CBBC or something - Nelson being a presenter with a 'naughty' puppet as his sidekick and Smith perhaps in a John Craven's Newsround role.

I must admit I also really struggled with understanding Toney's speech. Not good signs.

I thought that was a toned down toney!!
The mans a warrior he sees himself as second to none & fights that way. Why do people allway's want to see vunerable people or you have to be the most respectful person because your a prize fighter?

Some of the hardest men in the world still possess humility. Being an arrogant prick doesn't go hand in hand with seeing yourself as second to none.
Toney was definitely toned down on ringside compared to how he's been most of his career. He was a gifted & great fighter in his prime but was always a loose cannon. He lacked dedication to nutrition & diet (drinking pepsi in between rounds in the gym!) and regularly skipped training and is now paying the price for it.

James's speech is badly compromised frpm what he was a few years ago but if you make the effort to listen he does talk sensibly about the sport so the cognition is still intact though for how much longer you wonder when he is being hit by much bigger men. Such a shame one of the very best in his prime and at his weight i.e middle to cruiser.

He looked awful when he was tapping his foot on the floor, made me wonder if he was actually struggling to control himself doing it.

Spot on.

I don't know if it's a persona he's cultivated for himself, or whether he just hates everyone that isn't called James Toney, Colonel Sanders or Ronald McDonald.

Toney's act is tiresome these days & it's all the more laughable when you actually see him in the (ample) flesh.

He was arrogant but not disrespectful. He wasn't that bad. He clearly a bit ill (in the brain) but he was quite tame

Now that is a top class sparring session - fantastic quality by both men, incredible that Toney is still 'going' almost 25 years later and it's no surprise his speech is slurred.

(Wonder how Donald McCrea feels?)

Toney is very entertaining though, throughout his career all you could get out of him was constant trashtalk,it got in a lot of his opponents heads. Sad whats happening now though Brad Pitt in Snatch is easier to understand than he is

It's a common trait of sky creating revisionist history such as Nelson and toney were bitter rivals and that Roy Jones jnr had bitter rivals in Collins " the one who got away" and Eubanks and the whole world missed out like with pacuiou- mayweather and that calzaghe beat Jones in a clash of the titans. The truth is jones was light years ahead of calzaghe for 80 percent of his career and Collins and Eubanks weren't even on his radar.

^ this.

I loved the way Toney slid out the way of all those big rights by about a quarter of a millimetre & whacked McLellan with a wide right to the body around the guard nearly every single time. Delicious.

I never remember a possibility between toney & nelson, that was rubbish like Mugabi said.
I do remember a possibility of nelson v jirov & nelson avoided him like the plague.
People slate toney but he does go in & fight anyone at anytime. Jirov was the man at cruiser & toney goes for gold.look at when he fought the big favourite nunn in his hometown, the man goes straight in,he don't take the easy routes.thats why he's a great
