paul smith out of 7th december show?
theres been a bit of an argument on twitter and it seems like paul smith isn't fighting luke blackledge now! luke thinks he should be now fighting for vacant belt but liam said his brothers fight wasn't mandatory so he wont get stripped! shame as its a decent card

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
something needs to be done about these fighters under contract who seem to think they can just cancel contracts! and the people who are encouraging them to do this need to be punished the bbbc need to clamp down on this asap
Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
The shit's about to hit the fan. Be interesting to see if Paul ends up in the same position as Stephen.Naandrew wrote:Just gone on his twitter he has left allegedly

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
The good thing about Paul possibly linking up with Matchroom though is we might get to see him vs Fielding. Id like to see that fight. He mentioned in the not so distant past that he thinks he deserves a world title shot. Im not sure if he was on crack when he made that statement as im not entirely sure what he thinks he's done to deserve that. Beat Fielding and then do something on a european level and then fair enough.
Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
These fighters are not stupid & wouldn't terminate contracts if it wasn't possible. Fw has several companies & has probably not legally transferd most fighters over off existing contracts or not without there know how possibly???
I think Hearn can good things for the smiths & make the most out of there novelty where previous promoter didn't really make the most out of it

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
Well considering Stephen's contract is currently suspended, he cant be that smart.hurlock wrote:These fighters are not stupid & wouldn't terminate contracts if it wasn't possible. You don't think matchroom's legal team have assessed & advised on the situation??
Fw will do whatever he can to cause problems going straight to the board threatening legal action towards them.

They might of assessed it but it doesnt automatically mean it's been done well. Whatever you think about FW he seems to have a top notch legal team.hurlock wrote:You don't think matchroom's legal team have assessed & advised on the situation??

Sad sad state of affairs and happening far too often , signed contracts for British titles should be honoured . It doesn't reflect well on those involved or the sport in general.
The person I feel sorry for the most is Luke Blackledge who has been waiting for such a chance for ages and no doubt training hard in the build up. I hope he gets his opportunity to fight for this title ASAP against whoever.

I would imagine he won't be doing his allegedly job anymore then

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
Gutted for Luke Blackledge he has had to go abroad to fight anyone decent as no one wants to fight him in the UK.
Hopefully Smith fights Fielding soon then, though Luke should have had that fight a while ago.

Like this wasn't obvious. Liam will be next.

Matchroom snapping up everything and everyone.
Stop jumping to conclusions without checking your facts first.
Paul is not planning to sign up with anyone at this point in time, including Matchroom.
Given certain things that have happened, he wishes to be free from close relationships and is prepared to fight on any Promoter's show if offered a spot, including Wazza's but, on a purely fight by fight business basis without close personal involvement.

..... That's purely a joke before I get sued![/quote]
Perish the thought, quite funny though. I'm waiting for someone to ask if they can watch.

How do you know any of this? Understand if you can't say, but those are quite bold assertions that one would assume you could only make if you had heard them from the horses mouth.Rumpole wrote:Groove Armada wrote:Not good. By certain things, I assume you mean with swifty? I'm quite curious to know exactly what it was that triggered his move.
I'm gutted about the whole thing, as I am a smigga fan, and have actually just bought tickets from his website today!!!
Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
Is Smith stupid? Warren's always done ok by him, he hasn't got long left and he had a nice TV job lined up for him when he retired, that he has now blown, for what?
Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
Hope he get stripped. He should have just fought him. Blackledge deserves to fight for the title. Smith actually put something on twitter along the lines of forget all the politics and I just want to fight. Then he does this, probably after selling a lot of tickets.
Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
His brother couldn't just walk away from Warren and a spanner has been thrown in the works for his career; I imagine that has something to do with it.expe wrote:Is Smith stupid? Wazza's lawyers are going to be rubbing their hands at this. They've got the Ricky Burns stuff and probably the whole Smith family soon.
I wonder what is in those contracts, or not in them that makes these boxers so confident they can repudiate their contract with Wazza?

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
Following a statement released today by Paul Smith on social network site, Twitter, claiming that he has terminated his Agreements with allegedly and his companies, his registered manager allegedly has issued the following statement:
“Paul Smith has an existing and binding ‘Approved Boxer/Manager Agreement’ in place with me and also an exclusive Promotional Agreement with Queensberry Promotions Ltd. He has no grounds to terminate either Agreement and neither has he even sent a letter of termination to Queensberry Promotions Ltd. However, if he feels he does have grounds, the procedures he must follow are clearly set out in both Agreements.
I am particularly disappointed by Paul Smith’s behaviour as he has never contacted me to express any discontent whatsoever despite being managed by me for 10 years, 36 contests and two reigns as British Champion. I have always enjoyed an excellent relationship with him.”
Needless to say, Mr. Warren will defend his rights as the manager and Queensberry Promotions Ltd as the exclusive promoter of Mr. Smith.
Mr Smith Agreed terms to box on 7th December against Luke Blackledge at the Echo Arena and sanction for the bout and properly executed agreements by the registered managers of both Boxers have been lodged and accepted by the BBBofC. Should Mr Smith not fulfill his obligations then needless to say further action with be taken to seek substantial damages.

Re: paul smith out of 7th december show?
You or me have no idea what has gone on behind the scenes. But its pretty obvious the basic reason he has done it, he believes his brother has been f*cked over and/or just doesn't feel comfortable being with them anymore with the dispute ongoing.expe wrote:Is Smith stupid?
