Did Sugar Ray Robinson? -------

Post by NYDominican »

Clearly, Sugar Ray Robinson was a very great boxer. He should rank among the very top boxers in the Welterweight Division. Also, in boxings "Pound for Pound" category.

But, throughout Sugar Ray Robinsons professional boxing career. ----- Did he avoid many fighters?

Did Sugar Ray Robinson avoid any of these respective top boxers? -------

Tony Zale?

Holman Williams?

Charley Burley?

Jack Chase?

Lloyd Marshall?

Kid Tunero?

Eddie Booker?

Bert Lytell?

Cocoa Kid?

Archie Moore?

If Sugar Ray Robinson avoided these very top boxers, do you think that this will affect Sugar Rays all time top rankings?

He had to duck some of them. I would too. I rate the great Henry Armstring over him as the greatest fighter P4p

No . . besides Burley if you look at the times those fighters reached their peak and their respective weights they don't overlap with Robinson.

Even Burley is a reach. They were only ranked at the same weight at the same time for a year. Robinson went out of his way to fight the best during his entire career.

Robinson tried to get matches with both Zale and Moore for sure. Not sure about the rest.
