Tyson, with hindsight Holmes.
Marciano, Charles or Moore.
Holmes, Mercer.
Lewis, would like to say Holyfield 1, otherwise Ruddock.
Louis, Schmeling.
Ali, Foreman.
Holyfield, Tyson 1 or Bowe, pick'um for me.
Liston, Williams 1.
Frazier, Ali.
Vitali and Wlad, no idea.

EDIT: just realised that op asked for best fighter, not best win. Give me a few minutes.

Ali is the biggest name that Holmes beat, but the man he fought in 1980 was Muhammad Ali only in name by that point. The great fighter from the 60's and 70's didn't exist anymore except in people's memories.

Wladimir's best win: David Haye or Chris Byrd
Vitali's best win: Either Sam Peter, Corrie Sanders or Chris Arreola I guess...not much of a resume.

So maybe my initial interpretation was correct? A compromise between best win / best fighter on the night.

The best fighter they beat, not necessarily the biggest name. So yes Holmes beating Ali doesn't make sense as Ali was totally shot.

Agreed. I could see why somebody would choose Mercer as his greatest win although I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, simply because Mercer was definitely a serious contender at the time and Holmes was well past his best.
