Frampton v Galahad
Re: Frampton v Galahad
It get's annoying seeing people who have agenda's ie linked with a certain gym spouting the same kind of propaganda over and over again. There's no objectivity.
Re: Frampton v Galahad
Though to be fair they know the people that we criticise, they see them train and struggle and wait and then we stick the boot in without a seconds thought, If I knew any good boxers and someone laid into them then I'd spout off as well; there is a lack of objectivity though sometimes; I can't read Billy Nelsons stuff sometimes about Ricky Burns etc, he'd purjure himself for the cause.columbo wrote:It get's annoying seeing people who have agenda's ie linked with a certain gym spouting the same kind of propaganda over and over again. Re: Frampton v Galahad
Frampton hasn't started training yet and Martinez-Mathebula is next month, there's no need or opportunity for a fight in the interim because it's likely that he will be fighting for a world title, so he can have a rest now and return in March for a world title. Galabad doesn't feature in any of those plans, it's a pointless fight, he struggled with Dickens who's far below Frampton's level. I don't even know how he ended up mandatory when he's only just won the British title, there must be someone more deserving.Parson Cross wrote:Am I missing something here ?
Barry is an easy fight allegedly so would be the perfect tune up for a World title tilt.
Instead Frampton vacates and will probably fight some unknown Eastern European in a 10 rounder.
That says to me that Barry is a significant risk to team Frampton.
As Horse says - lets see who he fights next - then we can decide whether duck is on the menu.
Can you imagine the debate on here if it was someone from Sheffield that vacated in similar circumstances ?
Re: Frampton v Galahad
That's a valid point admittedly. It's just that because of their closeness to these gyms/fighters they see things through rose tinted glasses though and cant admit the faults or where they're going wrong, etc. The whole objectivity thing again.palooka wrote:Though to be fair they know the people that we criticise, they see them train and struggle and wait and then we stick the boot in without a seconds thought, If I knew any good boxers and someone laid into them then I'd spout off as well; there is a lack of objectivity though sometimes; I can't read Billy Nelsons stuff sometimes about Ricky Burns etc, he'd purjure himself for the cause.columbo wrote:It get's annoying seeing people who have agenda's ie linked with a certain gym spouting the same kind of propaganda over and over again. Re: Frampton v Galahad
There were a couple of Brian Rose' fans on here after his bout the other week' one was really confrontational and argumentative and the other was sound; though both stood their ground and were plainly in Brians' corner one at least interacted for quite some time. Lots of those close to the boxers and gyms keep on posting and it must get tiresome for them sometimes and some of them maybe feel things personally when their mates are being knocked.

On paper Galahad would be Frampton's third best opponent behind Molitor and Martinez.
Re: Frampton v Galahad
Yep, I just don't see a need for one when a world title fight could be sorted for March, if it isn't, he should be in with Galahad.Parson Cross wrote:Expe,

Sheffield boxing fans deserve your admiration, but blind faith?youngrell wrote:I have to admire the Sheffield boxing fans' support of their local fighters, but sometimes the blind faith shown is just crazy.
Billy Nelson is a reputable trainer that has guided his man to 2 world titles. He's had Frampton and Galahad in his gym and on this thread states that Galahad would beat him. Nelson has no connection to Sheffield.
(Incidentally Billy, who did you have Frampton up to spar?)

Boxrec only have Frampton, Martinez and Quigg above Galahad in their European ratings.Horse wrote:Like who?expe wrote:I don't even know how he ended up mandatory when he's only just won the British title, there must be someone more deserving.

Molitor was due to box Galahad when Eddie nipped in to get him for Frampton (Parson Cross could confirm this).
Re: Frampton v Galahad
Just because Billy say's Galahad would beat Frampton, that doesnt mean it's the case though. For all we know, Galahad might of been in the groove and Frampton might of not been on form, etc.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Sheffield boxing fans deserve your admiration, but blind faith?youngrell wrote:I have to admire the Sheffield boxing fans' support of their local fighters, but sometimes the blind faith shown is just crazy.

Yes. I think the support you (the Sheff fans) give your guys is excellent. But, you seem to judge more on geography and potential ability shown in the local gym, whereas most outsiders judge on ability actually shown on fight nights.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Sheffield boxing fans deserve your admiration, but blind faith?youngrell wrote:I have to admire the Sheffield boxing fans' support of their local fighters, but sometimes the blind faith shown is just crazy.

Not just the local gym, Glasgow, Manchester etc. Barry was a late starter to boxing and is still improving rapidly. People who have seen him in the gym know that there is plenty more to come.youngrell wrote:Yes. I think the support you (the Sheff fans) give your guys is excellent. Whiteboy
Only Morons would mention that wanker and Rhodes in the same breath. I know exactly how that panned out so believe what you will.
If Frampton takes a warm up and the opponent is shit please all come back on and review your comments.

Fair play to the Sheffield contingent trying to talk up a decent pay day for Galahad, but realistically Frampton's far too strong for him.

Don't think that anyone has mentioned the purse - it's been about the European champion facing his mandatory but he has since decided to give his belt up.
