Why would Mayweather fight Khan in May?

Post by TopGun »

Other than to get an easy fight. I really cannot see why he would pick him. In Amir's last fight he was terrible. If it's all about the money then surely there are other fighters out there who would make bigger PPV numbers aren't there?

Amir does not warrant a shot at Mayweather IMO and I would be disappointed if Maywether chose him.

Mayweaher needs to fight Bradley next and then Pacman.

Garcia could also be a good option.

Bradley and Pacquaio are tied up with Top Rank for now, so they're non-starters. There have been accusations of Mayweather being boring and not knocking anyone out in America, Khan's never in a bad fight and is an easy KO for Floyd and he will make big money whoever he fights.

Love or hate Khan, he always generates attention. He is one of a handful of UK fighters that makes the mainstream media and is a "household" name over here. He is a celebrity as much as he is a boxer, even if some of the reasons he makes headlines are not ones that show him in a good light.

Floyd has mentioned his desire to fight in the UK several times, we all know it won't ever happen and it's all just a way to market him better over here. But since the Hatton fight, Floyd has become something of a celebrity over here too. A fight with a UK boxer would do good business here as well as the states and there's just no one else at the weight from over here who's as recognisable to the casual as what Khan is.

Throw in that Khan is never in a dull fight and it's guaranteed to gain massive interest. Who else would be a better PPV option? Apart from Manny of course but thats a subject thats already been done to death. Bradley, Alexander etc would no doubt be tougher and more deserving opponents, but they won't bring in the interest Khan does.

Garcia is definitely a future contender and I think the war of words between Garcias father and the Mayweathers would make entertaining 24/7 build up. But Mayweather has his plan to make maximum money to close out his career so if Garcia keeps up the momentum he's building then mayweather will take the fight when it'll bring in more cash.

I think he needs a KO and this is his easiest option to get a shit load of money doing it.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ khan is the biggest fight money wise out the 3 divisions that mayweather can choose to fight in. bradley doesnt bring as much money neither does garcia were as khan brings the british and asian interest, like a previous comment,if it makes money it makes sense. and it will be an easy nights work/sparring session for mayweather.

I actually think if this fight happens Khan will take a couple of rounds off Mayweather legitamately in the early going. Floyd struggled with Judah's speed initially and Khan's at least as fast if not faster. Take into account floyd has slowed a little and you get a competitive 4-5 rounds. I'm not even sure whether floyd knocks him out to be honest.

It is the biggest money fight out there and with relatively low risk for Mayweather. That's why Khan will get his shot.

Khan under roach could make this interesting, but under Hunter he seems caught in between styles.

I'm hoping instinct takes over and he makes a good fight of it, believe it or not i actually like Amir and wish him well.
