Re: DAVID PRICE...
He needs to do a lot of things to improve, but he probably won't do them.

Though if he did them he'll not get where he'd like to be and it'd not just be him sacrificing but his family; he'll get wrecked next decent hitter he faces that goes over 3 rounds.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
If he had a jab worth a darn he might be able to keep most decent hitters away from him.palooka wrote:Though if he did them he'll not get where he'd like to be and it'd not just be him sacrificing but his family; he'll get wrecked next decent hitter he faces that goes over 3 rounds.
His weak chin isn't even his main problem, he's got a lot of work to do.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
Agree he needs to strengthen up and bulk up a bit generally. I think he also has weak legs, needs to do a LOT of leg work to get those skinny legs stronger and try and bulk up to fill out his frame a bit.
Those things might help some of his weaknesses, but then there's the engine, he looks like he might not have the stamina for it either, so bulking up loads might affect that even more. He needs a lot of careful work.

So that's body work, engine and weight distribution - he ought to go to a garageTheCobra wrote:Agree he needs to strengthen up and bulk up a bit generally. I think he also has weak legs, needs to do a LOT of leg work to get those skinny legs stronger and try and bulk up to fill out his frame a bit.

Re: DAVID PRICE...
He is 6ft8 and has weighed in between 17 stone 7lbs and 17 stone 10lbs, which is about right for someone his size as Vitali K is the same size and usually weights at the same or couple of pounds heavier. So maybe his weight is about right in my eyes. But who knows?Groove Armada wrote:NEEDS ANOTHER 16-18lbs ON HIS FRAME, HE LOOKS LIKE A SKELETON.

Re: DAVID PRICE...
I wouldnt say Price looks small to me. He carries a lot of muscle on his upper body for sure. He could put more on but then he might even more less mobile than he already is.

Re: DAVID PRICE...
Anyone else feel a bit sorry for Price last night at the end of Prize Fighter ? He was like yesterday's news. All the focus was on Joshua, and adulation was rightly laid at the feet of Larry Holmes. Price at the back looked like the forgotten man, who knew it.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
I agree. Saying that though, Price was hyped to high heavens like Joshua was on his way up so the same thing could still happen to Joshua. As someone else has already mentioned it looks like he's signed with Sauerland. I think that will be good for him actually. He might not fight in the UK anyway, he'll be out of the spotlight and all the expectation that was on him when he fought in Liverpool.JimJim2009 wrote:Anyone else feel a bit sorry for Price last night at the end of Prize Fighter ? He's been destroyed twice in a row, he's lucky he got any attention at all.JimJim2009 wrote:Anyone else feel a bit sorry for Price last night at the end of Prize Fighter ? Re: DAVID PRICE...
Interesting career move if he's heading out to Germany. Wonder if he's relinquish the British title so he can re-develop and rebuild without the hassle of a Chisora fight ?
There was a point in last night's Prize Fighter when they were fawning over Larry and Joshua, and Price seemed to be looking upwards and thinking "beam me up Scotty".

Re: DAVID PRICE...
If price loses to chisora. Is it curtains? Or will price be happy being a good domestic fighter like macdermott/skelton/williams.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
Price has too much potential to just become a domestic also-ran.rhino222 wrote:If price loses to chisora. Is it curtains? Or will price be happy being a good domestic fighter like macdermott/skelton/williams.
Chisora is probably better than Thompson, so Price really shouldn't be fighting him right now.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
He's signed with Sauerland:

The deal will keep him on allegedly.

Re: DAVID PRICE...
but, if he cant beat chisora then who at top tier is he going to beat? Yes he has a punchers chance v anyone but anyone with half a punch has a chance of beating him. We should have paid more attention to price getting clipped in his debut with the dropped gumshield-gate!Horse wrote:Price has too much potential to just become a domestic also-ran.rhino222 wrote:If price loses to chisora. Re: DAVID PRICE...
He wasn't as hyped as Joshua. For good reason. He wasn't an Olympic Good medallist at a home Olympics. Big difference between bronze and gold. Ask the respective bank managers of Price and Joshua, they will tell you!columbo wrote:I agree. Its a ruthless sport. All sport is but boxing especially so. Ain't no room for sentiment. Price wants to have a bit of attention etc? Get back in the ring and start knocking people out again. Harsh but true.
I hope he comes back and does something. Seems a nice bloke. Once Haye beats Fury I wold love to see him fight Price. Its the one fight where Price will come in massively fired up and ready to rock and roll.
Re: DAVID PRICE...
I dont think Joshua has made that much so far mate. I remember seeing an interview Eddie done with IFilm talking about signing Joshua and he was saying that his offer wasnt that great financially to sign with him but that it would work out better in the long. I think the days of Olympic gold medallists getting huge signing on fee's are gone.lillywhite14 wrote:He wasn't as hyped as Joshua. For good reason. Re: DAVID PRICE...
Joshua's fanfare has been louder than Pricey's though Colombo. The man was on all kinds of terrestrial tv before he even threw a punch for pay. The hype surrounding him far exceeds anything that was around Price at a similar period in his career.
I agree the days of million pound signing on fees are gone but I reckon Joshua has done pretty damn well out of it so far!

Re: DAVID PRICE...
Joshua could well turn out to be another one who was hyped too soon, it's just too soon to tell when they are fighting knockover jobs. However, he does look more sturdy and natural than price and less stiff, so there are more things to initially like so my feeling is he will go much further, how will he react when he takes a whack on the chin in the pros? Who knows? Price though did have a record of being chinny in the Ams that I am unaware of Joshua having, unless someone can fill me in otherwise?
Re: DAVID PRICE...
Joshua was stopped as an amateur if memory serves me correct. His chin definietly isnt in question to the degree that Price's was though.TheCobra wrote:Joshua could well turn out to be another one who was hyped too soon, it's just too soon to tell when they are fighting knockover jobs. Re: DAVID PRICE...
There was a bit at the end where Nelson almost mockingly said something to him along the lines of. "What about you? Onwards and upwards?"
Hopefully being treated like that will spur Price on. He knows he's being treated like a hard luck story and people are more or less rubbing his head like he's an 11 year old who just hit the post in a schoolboy football final penalty shootout. Its bordering on pity because he's such a nice guy. I hope he turns it around as he was never cocky even when he was blasting every one out. I can't see it happening as even when he battered Skelton he looked desperate when under pressure. Hope i'm wrong!

Re: DAVID PRICE...
Think signing with Sauerland is a decent move and probably a natural one given that Booth has some links with them.
Price needs a couple of fights out of the way to shake off the ring rust and then by about the autumn of next year he can look to step up and fight the likes of Chisora and Fury (who in my view will be demolished by Haye).
At the moment it's hard to see Price being a world champion but things may look very different in a years time, especially given that Vitali will almost certainly have retired by then and Wlad and Haye will likely be gone in 2 or 3 years.
Let's face it, once the Klitschko's and Haye are gone, the division is pretty wide open and any number of fighters could win a world title.
