This is not an attempt to compare the the ability of the two , but to make a couple of points.

Cornish's manager has been criticised on this forum because of the quality of his opponents. He's answered by explaining that Cornish had no amateur experience.

How do the opponents of the OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST compare???

Point one is that Tommy Gilmour has been right and point two, Joshua is wasting his time fighting these guys.

To be fair he's keeping active and got a decent enough test in Darch. If proably fight a bum at short notice or no-one

Gary Cornish has been a pro for 2 and a half years, joshua has been a pro for just over a month. By the end of the year Joshua will have fought the same amought of fighter with a positve record and probably of a higher standard.

Tommy Gilmour and right do not belong in the same sentace for the vast majority of his fighters.

I can't criticise a fellow bluenose, but when you say 'most' of Tommy's fighters may have an issue with him, I don't think you're entirely accurate.

Joshua would have had a harder fight with swinging punchbag than that excuse for a heavyweight last night.

You asked how they compared and I just showed you. Joshua fought somebody after 21 days that it took Cornish 2 and a half years to fight.

I can't correct you on the facts and the fact remains that the 2 boxers, Joshua and Cornish are very different animals, have had very different things happen to help/hinder them and have massively different levels of both ability and high end professional help around them and that's not to mention the financial imperative - that Joshua is in a far more secure and comfortable position to Cornish and that the financial arrangements of a number of high level people depend upon Joshua continuing an upward momentum.

the number of amateur fights went down in general because there are much less tournaments than some decades ago (maybe that changes with the WSB). joshua might not have that many times but he did receive a massive amount of very professional training for years in the british amateur system which was heavily funded due to the olympics. joshua basically was a pro athlete since at least 3-4 years.

There's all sorts of oblique ways to compare these two's development, background etc but the bottom line is they're both pro fighters now, and this is the fight game, and in my opinion Joshua would paste Cornish in the first round if they fought now.
