A rememberance of the late great Pat Stapleton

Hi Karen, just sitting here with my dad in Athlone, Ireland. My dad knew your father very well, they both worked on British Railways in South London your dad pulled up in a big car outside dad's workplace on the morning he was leaving England to start his boxing career in the USA.
My dads recollections of your dad,was that he was a big strong handsome man, blonde hair 6ft 2, both of them both young men and became very close friends at that early stage in their livesand my dad never forgot him.
When your dad was leaving he gave my dad a signed picture of himself and autographed (Brixton, London) and unfortunately through time and various moves the picture was lost, with much regret.

Both young men from Ireland, away from homes and families, they made a good friendship, he lent money to my dad and my dad to him those were hard times.

I am so sorry to hear your dad passed away , you have my sympathies and assurance that our friendship wasnt forgotten over time.
