We've got lots of nice parks, just stay away from Grange Park. Most people who come to Preston for football get a limited view because from the train station to Deepdale involves walking through Deepdale itself, which is a bit of a dump, there's worse places like. Very few see Avenham and Miller Park, all of Penwortham gets missed, as does Fulwood. Plus, there's loads of pubs.
I think Preston is blessed to have UCLAN there. At least gives the town centre something. My ex went there I spent a lot of time there.
Brings a lot of jobs in, something like 20,000 students at UCLAN, that keep a lot of pubs running along Friargate, Adelphi and Plungie, everywhere else pubs are shutting down, but along a stretch of about a mile from the end of Plungie to St George's Shopping Centre there's at least 15 pubs. I agree with you on the City Centre, needs sorting out. The council don't help either, only plan they have is to knock down the bus station, which is now a listed building, so that's not happening. They should try to promote public transport, trams are starting on a demonstration line next year, would let them knock down some of the car parks and get more shops in. Knock down the St John's Centre, it's full of Pound and Charity shops and have a row of shops on either side, facing the bus station and the markets. Finally, sort out the Guild Hall. Get rid of the Charter Theatre and the shops at the bottom that are of the same standard as St John's and build an arena that holds 4-5,000 and can attract decent acts if they lower the rates for using it. Won't happen though, this is the same council that built a fvcking ringway through the city centre
