Scott Frank.....................why???????????

Post by zuru »

Why did Scott Frank get a shot at the Heavyweight title? There were plenty of more qualified heavys deserving of a shot.Heck, there were plenty of flyweights more deserving of a Heavyweight title fight than Scott Frank.Tex Cobb may have been overmatched,BUT look at the whipping he took.He got it so bad Howard Cosell retired from boxing commentating that night. And Scott Frank couldn't compare to Cobb. The Duva's were shrewd business dealers.

Larry wanted a bit of easy money. I think he was promoting the fight himself and was keeping himself working. Strictly bidness as Larry would say.

I brought up something similar awhile back. Scott Frank was one of the fighters on my list who received a dubious title shot. Off the top of my head I think I also named guys like Terry Daniels, Scott Ladouex, Jose Roman, Jean Pierre Coopman, Ron Stander. Their would be quite a few others who got a shot at the title where their credentials were questionable. It might be interesting to get behind the scenes and hear how these decsisions are reached. But when have the people who run boxing done what is in the best intrest of the sport.

Didn't ABC give Don King matchmaking duties? Sky did the same with Mr. F. Warren over here. Say no more. :D
