Standing 8 counts?
Standing 8 counts?
I thought there was supposed to be no standing 8 counts at championship level boxing. Have i got that wrong?
Re: Standing 8 counts?
You can get a count if the ropes are deemed to be keeping the fighter from falling to the canvas

Good example being Froch v Bute. A lot gave the ref stick but I am pretty sure that is a good example of the ropes holding a fighter up.taffytoon wrote:You can get a count if the ropes are deemed to be keeping the fighter from falling to the canvas

I thought it was only if you jump up after being knocked down the 8 count is administrated.

Dont think the ref needed to give Bute a count, should of just been a straight stoppage, he was gone.
