Berridge vs McKinnon
Berridge vs McKinnon
Was the best fight lastnight. We need more matchups like that here in Aus.
Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
Daniel McKinnon is in hospital on life support in a critical condition unfortunately, I hope he pulls through.

Was a great fight. Very tough and a fantastic effort by both. Fingers crossed Daniel pulls through ok.
Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
Was a great fight between NZ's 2 top Light-Heavyweights. Both guys had there moments and in the end Berridge grinded Dan down enough to get the stoppage win.
I hear Dan is improving and whilst not 100%% out of jail yet should and hopefully will recover.

Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
was the best fight I've seen in a while, duco wants to get him Roy Jones jr next, I think Enzo Maccarinelli for the commonwealth title would be a smarter choice then Roy Jones jr
Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
I'm glad I didn't subscribe to Main Event, albeit it was the only fight I wanted to watch. Given I'm not a blood thirty shithead, I would've ventured elsewhere (racing channel). Viewing pix (RbR) I fail to understand why it wasn't halted earlier?N2 Shape wrote:Was a great fight between NZ's 2 top Light-Heavyweights. Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
It was a good honest hard fight, McKinnon was still firing back and dropped Berridge even as Berridge was starting to get on top. Had there be no medical issue with regards to Dan no one would be saying it should have been stopped earlier. Easy to say after the fact!

The stoppage was absolutely perfect by Australia's best referee Charlie Lucas, and was reiterated by Ken Reinsfield, and many others at Ringside at the time, it was a good competitive fight, by two terrific sportsmen, sadly for Dan, it just wasn't his night.
This fight has been three years in the making, they've tried and tried to get it together, but couldn't. I g finally got them together, and I am proud of the fact, a quality title and two quality fighters.
I spoke to Ken Reinsfield, Pat Leonard and Dr Dave Renata last night, Dan's speaking and moving well, he still has a little short term memory loss, but that's to be expected, He is doing really well now, he is a clean living fit young guy, and that will help aid his recovery.
So it's only a matter of time, before he heads home, they have asked me, to thank everyone in Australia for their kind words, prayers, best wishes and concerns for Daniel.
It's just a awful shame, that the resident fool, who didn't even watch the fight, continues to speak garbage, without even knowing the true facts, or what he's talking about, but that's normal, it says more about him, than the event itself.
Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
i agree it wasnt a bad stoppage. I do admit that when he gave Daniel the last standing 8 count i did think, hmm they should probably stop this, but that would have only saved him a couple of blocked punches and body shots.
Its hard to stop a fight when a fighter like McKinnon just gets on trying, as he is always a live chance of landing that knockout blow.

Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
The fight was stopped, more or less, right on the dot and it's a real shame Dan had to get hurt the way he did but who would have ever known... the fall through the ropes was more to do with his momentum when trying to keep his balance against the barrage of punches but he seemed to have responded back fine, so yeah, timing of the stoppage was fine and well judged in my view. Bruising fight where with more improvements and technical ups-killing Berridge will be a a real contender. Probably be the end of the road for Daniel.
Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
Dont think Dan will ever fight again. And to be honest why would he? He has a young family and I believe he is a qualified chef so wont struggle to find work I wouldnt think. He's fought the best in this region and held his own no need to risk permanent injury or death for a few G's!
On the otherhand Berridge will always be a live body in any fight given hes always in shape and clearly has a punch on him. I just think he'll be found out technically at the top level and even at International level.

It would be nice if PABA & WBO donated their sanction fee ;;-)

Re: Berridge vs McKinnon
End of the road for Dan and hopefully it stays like that.... Berridge, with time and proper skill coaching will become a contender. Exciting style and ring appeal on him is excellent....
