Biggest fight in Asia?

Post by iamasadlittleboy »

What was the biggest fight on Asian soil?

Two big ones stand out, but I'm wondering if I'm missing one.

"Thrila in Manila" (Philippines)
Tyson v Douglas (Japan)

IF they are clearly 1 and 2, then what would be third?

I'd enjoy an Asian boxing fan's take on that question. In terms of international interest, it's hard to come up with much that rivals the ones you mentioned. But then, the weight divisions at which fights are typically held in Asia are almost never followed by Westerners.

in terms of live attendance, it was probably the open air fight of Espinosa-Soto in Manila. attendance was estimated somewhere between 300k~500k people.
