Joe Egan?
Joe Egan?
I read he is bringing out an autobiography shortly, can anybody tell me what he is famous for?
I understand he is friends with and sparred Mike Tyson, is the book based solely on this because I don’t see how he can write a book on the back of only four professional fights and knowing a few boxers.

According to Amazon it is out next month.

Toughest white man on the planet???
His pro fight record suggests he may just be exagerating....a lot
Is it a boxing based book, the front cover does suggest that but his pro record is nothing, 4fights and a loss against Denroy Bryan TKO4...where does the toughest white man on the planet come from??...and when did Butterbean pass away because I always believed he was

Yeah, terrible title... apart from the argument that there are many other tougher white men, the suggestion that being white means you cannot be tougher than the toughest black man is ludicrous.tonyevs wrote:Toughest white man on the planet???![]()

I think UFC fighters are tougher engage in a tougher sport than boxers, and the top fighters are almost all white.

This is the book Tyson was signing on Thursday, he wouldn't sign anything else just one copy of the book.KOJOE90 wrote:According to Amazon it is out next month.

Must have sold at least 500 copies if not more in the morning, the bloke in front of me had 5 books, so I guess he was going to ebay them but Mike, Joe and the other two one of which was the co-author and another fellow who wrote the foreward with Tyson would only sign one.
Egan had two fights then was injured in a car accident on the way home from his second fight, he then fought once more the year after in his only loss, then waited 13 years before making a comeback, at 38 I believe.
He also did some time at her majesty's pleasure for a car scam or something similar.
It was great to finally meet Tyson, but you weren't allowed to take pictures or anything so it was a bit of a let down at the end of the day.
If Tyson wasn't there how many copies of the book would have sold?????????
Tyson proved he still can pull in the crowds!
as for hardest whiteman on the planet I wouldn't like to comment.

The monicker 'toughest white man on the planet' was coined by Tyson when they were both training together under cus.tonyevs wrote:Toughest white man on the planet???![]()

Egan was a standout amateur for whom life got in the way of his boxing, and he never made it as a pro, his story is one of adversity and bad luck, it's not about his pro career.
The book is currently the 6th best selling boxing title on amazon.co.uk, do it seems to be doing ok.
If u read the book you will see what Joe has been through...he beat BRUCE SELDON as an amatuer,he lost a very close decision on points to lennox lewis....he was Irelands BEST EVER heavy weight amatuer...
apart from that he worked the door on wall street NEW YORK,.....sparred and upset Mitch Green.....lived with Tyson for over a yr and sparred with him in his prime...his book is brilliant....he is a very good friend of mine and without sounding biased which i probly do,he is a proper gentleman...and deserves the attention he gets....Mike Tyson in his prime wiped the floor with anyone he could'nt hurt Joe..i'd say that was one pretty tough guy!!!
he has friends EVERYWHERE in boxing....i was with him in the car the other night going to an amatuer show and within the space of 30 mins i'd spoke to Alan minter,Steve arnold(corrie)Paul silky Jones and he rang tyson infront of me but got his answer phone...ha
I watched his first pro fight on tape the other night and i can tell u this...today he would of took Audley or danny williams apart in 3 rounds...Joe is and was a natural FIGHTER....he scares the hell out of me

What's an Eargumnet? Is it like a grommet?
Covered this topic on another thread quite recently.Jacko11 wrote:If u read the book you will see what Joe has been through...he beat BRUCE SELDON as an amatuer,he lost a very close decision on points to lennox lewis....he was Irelands BEST EVER heavy weight amatuer...

re
I can only imagine what Tyson's foreword is like...
"It's absolutely ludicrisp if a pessismist objects that Joe isn't the toughest caucasin on the galaxy earth and if any body disagree's then I'll knock him into bolivian!"
Tougest white guy in the world was stopped by a fighter with a record of 7-26-3 (5 KO), but records can be decieving...I just can't get over have such a scholar like Tyson writing a blurb!
When I first heard that there was a bio for Joe Egan I was a little excited as I thought that it was going to be about the 1911-1925 Joe Eagan who really could fight!
