Anyone watch it? No pOuNd 4 pOuNd stuff, but you might have saw a world class operator in Asiku. 8)

Marc Callaghan - Jackson Asiku

Got to feel sorry for Marc. Asiku not only looked a class above, but a weight division above. I had a feeling he'd be dangerous for the first half, but was expecting Callaghan to grit it out and possibly make it close on the cards. Just wasn't to be, I guess.

I suppose he could have a complaint about the stoppage. John Keane, unfortunately, does shoot wide on occasion (he's still a top class ref and judge though), but I don't know what he would've gained if it were to have lasted longer. All the best to him in the future.

Michael Lomax - Kevin Phelan

I agreed with the commentary about the age thing. Lomax's lack of speed (mainly) and also power will bottleneck the progress he can make with his solid technical skills. Unless, of course, he manages to get faster...

Phelan looked to get frustrated as the fight wore on; was kinda asking Lomax to push for the stoppage toward the end... but he stayed off. Tough for the crowd, but their man won, so no worries.

George Hillyard - Richard Mazurek

I think it's important to remember, first of all, that Hillyard is likely a welterweight. He's mostly been fighting guys bigger than him so it's no great shakes he isn't KO'ing them all. Saying that, his technique when he does get off, suggests he probably could increase his KO count regardless. DEFINATELY needs to align his focus and not only jab, but BANG from range. The commentary was spot on.

Lloyd Otte - Riaz Durgahed

Can't beat a four round slugfest between novices. Durgahed looked to have the better technique and edge it but the draw was legit. Rubber match in front of the same crowd would seem likely.

I know some of you dudes are a lot more up with the domestic scene than me but when I looked at TV lisitings last night and saw @friday Fight Night' I thought 'oh good I'll tape that'.

When I looked at the program detail and it said Marc Callaghan v Jackson Asiku I thought 'never heard of either of them'.

So I couldn't be bothered....

Well how are you going to find out if you don't tape it then, Goz?

I know what you mean though - no way on God's earth would it have been a main event in normal circumstances though.

I had work so couldn't be arsed to stay up and watch the fight, nothing against Callaghan but the only other time i saw him was take a dodgy decision over Ian Napa and i couldn't think of any reasons to stay up and watch this fight.

Good to see George Hillyard return quickly after his loss to Ernie Smith, how did he look?

Manos you say hillyards been fighting bigger guys, take a closer look gorman at best light welter, geraint harvey is welter and smith started at light welter/welter. If george cuts out the crap and starts to concentrate i thing most will agree that he is a quality young prospect.
